Would you buy an RV with slide outs again?

I am looking to buy a HR 32' class A RV from year 1997-1999.

Some have slideouts and some do not. I am leery of their reliability and possibility of leakage. The whole concept of slideouts that require an awning to prevent leaks is un-nerving. Seems there should be a better way. I'm wonder about those who have used slideouts for many years and their opinion.

For a RV of this age, would you recommend slideouts?
Has anyone used slideouts over a period of many years without leaks?

We started with a Class 'A' with no slides. With 4 grandkids, 2 dogs, and 2 of us it was fairly tight. Did it work yes, it worked very well.

We upgraded to a 2 slide and it is SO MUCH better. The RV has just as much room with the slides in as the old 'No Slide' RV. Floor plan heavily weighs on your ability to move around with the slides in. We looked at quite a few RV's that with the slides in you were very limited on what you can do. We don't fulltime yet, but we do camp at least once a month all year.

Depends. If I were full timing I would have slides. (I am and I do). If I was camping or just doing road trips I wouldn't hesitate to get the right coach with the right floor plan. JMHO

I went from no slides to one slide and now 2 slides. IF I ever get another MH it will have MORE slides.

I couldn't afford the cost of a MH without slides------------divorces are very costly!!!!!!!!!!!

I would assume most would purchase a Coach with slides.
Personally I spend most of the time outside and only camp with one or two people.
My previous Coach has a couple of slides which caused me a lot of aggravation.
I keep it simple by purchasing the best non slide coach I could find.

Our first rig had none, we currently have four and wouldn't consider anything less. Hopefully they'll make a rig with 5 or 6 slides when we are ready to upgrade again.

Slides do give a lot more room but as I said I will likely be buying a Bus next time around, nothing made of plastic and fiber glass junk.
