Baby Back Ribs in the RV park today...

Two racks of baby backs on the Green Mountain Davey Crockett.
I love this pellet grill for the RV - works on 12 volt when in the boonies, and runs on 110V when I'm hooked up. Small and portable, and light years better than any BBQ grill as I can go low and slow for a fine smoke like here, or crank it up to 550* for an awesome sear on steaks. I'm using Pecan pellets today - they work pretty awesome for just about everything, but I also have Hickory and Mesquite on hand.

Thanks again for the post, although it cost me some money today. 🙂

I'll post some pics after delivery and when we get her broken in.

They go in that black box on the left side. There's a lid on top that hinges open. The fan, auger, and circuit board are underneath.

Where do the pellets go? I brought my Weber Bullet smoker on a trip once, and it was just too big - turned into a hassle.

I love my GMG pellet smoker. I've got Davie Crockett's bigger brother Daniel Boone.

No where's near as portable at 150lbs, but were seasonal so it doesn't get moved but twice a yr.

Here is a picture of it all packed up with the legs folded - the tape measure extends 20" floor to top of carrying handle.

Actual Grill real estate is 12 inches deep x 16 inches long x 7 inches grill to roof. A 12" cast iron drop biscuit pan (or 12" pizza grate in the picture above) fits beautifully.

The pellet hopper is big enough that you can run a full 10 - 12 hours without running out - which means that a full pork shoulder or brisket done overnight is a breeze.

Wow, you should get a commission for your work in publicizing these things. I too never realized they had a portable unit out that was practical. I saw a really small one in sportsmans warehouse once but it was so small I couldn't imagine it working for me.

Now I've just got to figure out how this conversation with the wife is going to take place being as how in the last month we've bought a new truck, and a new fifth wheel. Guess I'll wait until the next time we're eating dinner straight off the smoker I now have I'll just have to bring up how great it would be to have the same good cooking on the road....

This is why I cannot stay away from this site...stuff like this. I never knew there was a compact pellet grill/smoker. Thanks for posting!

The Davey Crockett is awesome, and I've sold quite a few fellow RV'ers on it. I should get a commission from Green Mountain...

You ask about steak - the best steak you ever had! Smoke some ribeyes at 225* for 3 hours, then pull them and crank up the grill to 550* and put them back on for a reverse sear. To make it even better, do what I did and upgrade to GrillGrates - they put a killer sear on meat.

They are predicting possible rain here tomorrow, so I'm getting my smoke on and doing a pizza today...

I bet that unit would make a fulltimer quite happy at mealtime:cool:.

The legs fold up to become a carrying handle, which also makes it real compact (comparatively). It fits nicely into a dedicated carrying bag. Mine rides inside the front compartment in my fiver.

Plugs into 110 or a 12 volts socket, and includes alligator clips if you want to clip onto a 12 volt battery.

Wireless version allows it to be controlled from your smart phone.

Details and pictures at the Green Mountain Grills site.

You forgot to mention where we're supposed to stop by to get our sample. I use my Camp Chef pellet smoker at least weekly at home, but haven't ever taken it on the road. How are you transporting yours? It might be something worth my looking into.

Looks great!

I am near pulling the trigger on one of those grills. Tell me the Davey Crocket does a good steak and it's a done deal.

I'm sorry but that Pellet Guide just don't work.

If you've never used mesquite to cook ribs, chops or a pork roast, you just have not lived.

But I also love my Davey Crockett !

I'm more of a St. Louis cut kinda guy, those do look like spares though. It's all good on the smoker though!

Friend and fellow camper and I are both big smokers too. Camped a couple years back near the coast, oddly enough no winds. Had the whole campground filled with the smell of Hickory. Lots of jealous campers and visitors 🙂

Good guide to keep around if you don't already have one.
