What do you do with the grill grease?

After grilling, what do you all do with the grease that has accumulated? How do you extract it from the grill, and how do you dispose of it?

Guessing this is primarily a propane grill question (never used one) but when I have an excess of grease whether utilising the charcoal grill or Coleman white gas stove, let it cool and then pour it into a lidded glass jar that is then added to the general garbage. I clean the pot/skillet w/ kosher salt and paper and I'm done.

Double ditto.

X3. Line the grill with foil. Too easy.

x4 We do this too, so easy! At the end of our stay we also clean the grill plates. We do this by filling up a large plastic storage tub with water and Dawn type dish soap. Let it soak overnight. The next day rinse it off with only some minor scrubbing. Can't do this in bear country, but otherwise it works really well for us!

I keep bacon grease in a wide mouth glass jar in the refrig. Comes into play when frying eggs, browning meat etc. Other grease is poured into old pickle or spaghetti sauce jars and stored under the sink until jar is full, then into the trash.

I save any kind of grease that is left over from cooking and make soap. I usually mix 70% of this grease and add 30% coconut oil and it makes a nice soap. I do not scent my soap because I don't like scented soap and the left over grease smells fine as a soap. I suppose I should start cooking with coconut oil and then it would be in the mix already.

We were at a FS campground in bear country last week and there was a sign asking we not put cooking grease in the fire pit.

I have used vegetable cans that I pour the grease into and throw away when it gets full or when I leave. Once woke up in the am and some animal (raccoon) took a lot of it.

I use an empty coffee can (metal ones) and pour grease from the grill or kitchen into that while it's still warm. Once it starts smelling I pitch the whole coffee can in the trash. We do drink a lot of coffee so have a regular supply of coffee cans. We avoid buying coffee in plastic containers just for this use.

Never mind, enough said. Deleted.

We have seen the same situation as NCWriter.

I don't recommend pouring liquid bacon grease directly into your campsite fire pit. We followed someone who had done that, and it left an awful, rancid smell in the summer heat. Strong enough to be unavoidable even sitting over by the RV for the whole stay.

We also line in foil and use the paper towel method to soak up grease, then dispose in trash.

Throw it in the fire ring with the rest of the trash to burn.

We pour grease into a can and freeze it before throwing it away. What grease and other food left is wiped down with paper towels. Same as in s&b.
