Big TV troubles with audio

Hubby hooked up new wireless Bluetooth headphones to our Sony Bravia TV. Now, even when disconnected, we get no volume from the TV. Volume works fine without the headphones for DVDs. The football game starts in 1 hour. Help, please!

We have already tried the myriad of controls on the set to no avail. There is a speaker reset option, but when we tried it, it didn't take the reset command. Thanks!

We ended up redoing the set up since the directions from their shell on Google didn't work. Their reset to factory settings also did not work. Redoing the search for channels set up worked. Thanks all for trying to help.

Most devices that have an earphone jack have a spring type mechanical contact that opens the path to the speaker when a plug is inserted in the earphone jack.

That's a fiber optic digital audio out. The red light is a laser or LED (edit). The button is likely a plug that's installed at the factory that you remove to plug in a fiber optic cable.

It sounds like the TV is confused for some reason. My Bravia has a factory reset option - hopefully yours does too. Not sure what else you can do (other than watch the game with the Bluetooth headphones).

The digital audio out is to be fed into a sound bar or similar equipment that has it's own volume control. I had a TV that had only that output jack, so I installed my own jacks.

Can you reboot a TV..? 'cause I'm all out of ideas.

The headphones are no longer plugged in & are turned off. Still no TV audio. We did notice that when we selected closed caption, cc only worked if we set it to work if TV was muted, but TV is not on mute ( at least that we can figure out). The remote is not set to mute...

Instead of plugging into the headphone jack see if there is an audio out .

Anything plugged into a headphone jack disengages speakers.

That made no difference....

First off, I no longer own a Sony so this answer is based on older Sonys and general TV knowledge. Go into the Setup Menu / Audio Setup and turn the TV speakers back on (or set the output to Speakers).
