Is an iPhone thing, because of the update size
Use the suggestion above
Turn hotspot on the Samsung, update iphone
Tomorrow turn hotspot on the iPhone on, update Samsung
Assuming the Samsung is Android, you should be able to update over cellular data
On my S4, settings / more / software update
Although I turned mine off more than a year or two ago, using another program on my pc that I down loaded to access the S4
Back when I was afraid an update would kill pdanet and foxfi
My S4 does everything I want, I don't need a new look & feel,
But I said ' No' to update every mouthing for six months, before I found the way, to stop the notifications

The hotspot was very fast and it still took almost 2 hours on the big new OS download a few months.
