Dual monitors Q

Trying to set up dual monitor on a desktop -- one to process landscape photos and one to process portraits without swinging the screen back and forth each time and changing setting each time too -

I can get both to operate, but when I put settings in one, it duplicates to the other - I can't make one portrait mode and one landscape mode ... and when I upsize resolution on one, it also upsizes on the other -- which I can't do with both.

PC is custom desktop Win 10 Pro with Intel i7-7700k processor, ASUS Z270E MB ... and installed Nvidia 1060 GC, and both monitors run thru GC, one on the DVI port, and one on HDMI port.

I should be able to show same image on both screens

Monitor One = BENQ SW2700PT at 2560x1440
Monitor Two = ASUS PA248Q at 1920x1200

Every time I change settings it changes on both, even if I separate each one, and change each one to its own settings ...

Am not as Tech Dumb as I once was, but still pretty much a 'novice' and stumped on this one =

A thought: Do I need identical resolution (or brand and size) to make this happen ... that would suck, but could change to identical if necessary ...

OK .. got it working perfect last night- not exactly sure what I did, as it just began showing on both screens, and I could put different images in either screen - but when I shut it down, and rebooted, now it will only show images on one screen, the main. Identical task bars are in both monitors, but no matter which one I click, it only opens windows in the main monitor now ???

Must be a simple way to set this up, I'm just not seeing it?? I did all the set up in the Nvidia card, It show two, one portrait one landscape - but the portrait screen shows nothing but task bar and screen open. Main screen works like it should ...

When I hit monitor on the main taskbar, it shows two landscape monitors 1 & 2, and on the auxiliary monitor it shows two portrait monitors ... but only the landscape monitors on the main monitor will open images - and they sit sidexside on one screen instead of one on each screen.

Did a combination of Nvidia and desktop display, and it worked - my problem was, I didn't realize one monitor is main, and one is like a slave ... it does what the main monitor tells it.

Was thinking each one is independent - it's not. Thanks for advice guys - all set now.

Right click on the desktop.

Select Display Settings

Make sure you see both monitors. Make sure it's set to "Extend display"

At that point, you should be able to select each individual monitor and set the resolution for each. If you want to flip one to be portrait, you should be able to do that too. Change that on the orientation drop down and pick the 'portrait flipped' option.

You should be able to do exactly what you describe..

In my office, we have a 3 monitor setup and one of those is usually set to portrait.

It's all in that initial Display Settings mode.

Good luck!

Are You using the Windows screen management or the Nvidia GPU Utility? The Win may not play well with the different resalutions of the monitors. Try using the Nvidia Utility. (right click on the home screen should bring up the option)

It sounds like you are mirroring the screens vs working them independently. Check in the settings.

Check out PCPP.com . It is a great resource for all things BYOPC.
