my main email address for the last brazillion years has been AOL. (AOL haters groan now) and am sick and tired of their recent switch to heavily biased political headlines on their main page. is there a redirect program available that can automatically reroute those from AOL to another email account? I believe that years back I had a email account that I could import my contact list but that is not what I want to do.
thanks,
bumpy

Ditto for Gmail.

Click on the "gear" icon (below my smiley face in the graphic below) at the top right of your gmail window. Then click on "Settings" in the pull down menu.

In the settings window select the "Accounts and Import" link near the top of settings as seen in this graphic.

The window below will appear, this is where you enter other email accounts you want gmail to access. The "import mail and contacts" link on this page will lead you through some of the more common email servers.

I have blocked out my email addresses in the screen clips above but you should get the idea.

As said, most email clients like Thunderbird are capable of receiving email sent to your AOL, Google, Yahoo, etc, address. And if data use is an issue, I've run several tests showing that using a local client uses less data than webmail, and even less if you use IMAP instead of POP3.

Been using Thunderbird (TB) since the beginning. As mentioned, it will do what you want. Read and send AOL emails without going to their website. I use it for GMail, AOL, Outlook/Live.com email accounts.

BTW, TB is easier to setup than GMail as it too has email wizard for AOL.

Many email clients allow you to get email from multiple email servers. As has been mentioned by several, Gmail is one of them and that is what I use. I've never used AOL, but I have set several friends that have up with Gmail and they get their gmail as well as their AOL mail in gmail. Try it, you will like it.

I have eight email addresses that I use or monitor and all come into my Gmail. When you get an email in gmail, if you reply to it gmail puts the original email address as the sender so the sender sees a response email from the same email address as they sent it to.

but can mail sent to my aol account be automatically routed to the gmail one? I do not want to click on or open aol.

there is an import setting which specifically mentions AOL on the gmail preferences page. why not give it a try? set up a free gmail account and then try it.

as I mentioned earlier I think the email client is a better solution but forwarding would certainly work for you.

If you can access your AOL e-mail using an e-mail client instead of the web interface, which you can probably do, then why bother re-directing the mail? I have 3 or 4 active e-mail accounts on various services and the e-mail clients I use on my Mac, BSD, Linux and Android devices all fetch the e-mail (and SPAM) from all of them. It all shows up in one window as if it had all been sent to a single e-mail address. And on my Mac if I respond to an e-mail, the response by default goes back out thru the same service the original e-mail came in from.
