FireFox 63.0.3 - Can't Download Anything

Since downloading FF 63.0.3 recently, I can't download anything. If I open FF in Safemode, it will let me download. That suggests that an extension or add-on is the problem. I disabled all of them and restarted FF - nope, still cannot download. OS is Win7

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I used Firefox as a secondary browser, using Edge as my main browser. I needed Firefox for a certain use on my banking site, which didn't work with Edge. Trouble was Firefox kept freezing lately. So I installed Chrome, which is working fine with my online banking. I did like Firefox and if it wasn't freezing on me I would have kept it.

OK - I just got the latest FF 64.0 - didn't make any difference. Before my OP I tried the Google results with no luck.

fj12ryder asked to explain what I;m trying to do, so here goes:

I want to download a new program, example "Greenshot". On the Greenshot page is a Download button. I click on the Download button. Up until a few days ago, at that point I would get a popup asking whether I wanted to "open" or "save" the file. I would choose "save" and the file would download to my Downloads folder.

Now when I click on the Download button, I do not get the popup asking which I want to do and the menu and toolbars at top of screen go gray.

I can right-click and download an image ok.

I have started FF in Safe Mode and then I can download.

When in safe mode, do you see the download box that says "save" or "open"?

That implies a problem with extensions or addons, I believe. I restart FF in normal mode, disabled all addons/extensions and cannot download.

As noted in OP, I'm running Win7.

Sounds like a popup blocker is preventing you from seeing the box. Try right clicking on the download button and open in a new tab.

Update: Problem resolved.

I used the Refresh Firefox feature which reset FF to original settings and removed all addons/extensions.

Before reinstalling any addons, I could download again. I added a few addons back in and still I can download once again.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

I just received a 64.0 update for FF. It's Win10 but maybe there's something available to you that will fix the problem you are having now.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

Describe how you go about trying to download a file, and then explain the error message. A full description may help. I'm running FF 63.0.3/Win7 with no issues.

You could try backing off to a previous version to see if it's FF or something else.

I'm OK with current version, but using W10H.

I just downloaded it and it works fine for me. The only difference is there is no download bar at the bottom - you have to click on the download icon to see your downloaded files.
