I had Google Chrome on my laptop. The other day, it wouldn't load. I uninstalled it, and reloaded it. However, I get the same problem.

I gave up on IE for my XP machines since MS quit supporting IE for XP. I use Chrome on my XP machines but use the latest IE on our Windows 7 PCs.

You should have three backups, on site, off site and online in the cloud like Carbonite .

How can I backup my data and keep it up to date?
If you use an online service and have a limited data plan you need to plan very carefully what you want to back up. If you let carbonite make your selections it can eat up your data allotment very quickly. I made that mistake and paid the price for it...:(

If you can't get the release version of Chrome to install for whatever reason; try the Beta: https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/beta.html or Alpha: https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/canary.html

I've been running both for years and never a problem.

BTW, implementing a backup plan can also save you from the occasional slip up, which happened to me recently. I was uninstalling some old, outdated programs, and didn't even think twice removing old versions of Firefox v12 and Thunderbird from my desktop. I had monitored these installs using an uninstall app, but didn't realize that the app also monitored all updates since that install. So when I went to uninstall Firefox v12, the app also uninstalled the current version v33 including my profile folders.

FYI, Firefox profile folder contains all browser add-on extensions, preferences, bookmarks and passwords. Same with Thunderbird, which contains locally stored emails, account settings and email passwords. :S

As I mentioned, my data files get auto backed up twice daily, including Firefox and Thunderbird profile folders, which are actually stored encrypted on my backup drive. So just a matter of reinstalling both programs and restoring the backed up profile folders. In the end, took just 15 minutes to get both Firefox and Thunderbird back to what it was, for the most part, before they were inadvertently uninstalled.

Did your church have a data backup plan? Hardware failures, data corruption, or malware can all destroy valuable files. Regardless of what OS or browsers you're using, you must take the time to formulate a plan. Best to make it an automated process, so don't even have to think about it.

I'm using all open source, freely available apps to backup my systems. With data files and photos automatically backed up twice per day. Key files are backed up when any changes are detected.

I have the same issue, just after I added MS Vista updates. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Google Chrome.
