I'm hearing more and more good things about Libre Office so may want to switch. What's the 'path'? Thanks. jim

File - Open - pick your Office 2003 file - there it is. Simple. Just like using Office 2003. If Open does not open to where your files are you can change the Libre preferences to your doc folder. Or you can just browse to the folder they are in right there in the "Open" window, and get the file you want to open.

Unless you are using a lot of macros and special formatting, just open the file with Libre Office. You might have to make some formatting adjustments, but usually the documents will display just fine.

Here's a link that will help you configure Libre to save documents in MS Office formats. http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/4803/save-as-ms-office-format-by-default/

You don't 'import' your old Word documents. You just tell the operating system to use Libre Office as the default program to open your .doc files. Just right click on a file, select Open With, then Choose Default Program.

You can install Libre Office but still keep Office 2k3 just in case.
