No DVD, Sat and TV is 110Volt? Inverter

We are looking at a new MH that has a TV that's 110 volt and no DVD and no satellite prewiring. There is a compartment over the passenger window with a 110v outlet and a TV cable connection. I think this compartment is for a DVD and it would power up thru the 110v outlet and wire in to the TV thru the that cable connector.Specifications say it has portable satellite dish hookup and power cord.
To get 110volt power to the outlets when dry campings and not using the generator I would have to get an inverter and somehow have it utilize the existing 110v outlets .
Any suggestions on size of the inverter and how to wire to system?

Making it as easy as possible: YES
I strongly recommend a TRUE SINE WAVE or Pure Sine Wave inverter. More expensive but...Worth it.

Now for the complex part

What all do you want to be able to power with the inverter

Just the entainerment center likely 300-500 watts will do it

Microwave 1500 minimum

I have a 2,000 watt runs Microwave, TV and GFCI link (Computers and such).

Batteries? one pair of GC-2 per Kilowatt of inverter is the mimimum, more is better.

Pass through convrter/inverter or stand alone: Your choice

IF you put in a Stand Alone.. Consider putting a 2nd outlet in the TV compartment (or 2) make them Red or Orange so you can tell them from the facory outlet.. Manually TRANSFER the plugs to the new outlts when you want to use the invrter

Pass through takes A/C in, and has A/C out There are other types but in my case I feed it 30 amps from the main power panel and it feeds a sub panel with 3 circuits (listed above) plus a 4th I added later for occasions when I want it.

Most of my outlets are fed from one breaker. I installed a transfer switch in that feed. I also am using a GoPower 300 watt PSW inverter.

We use the 300W PSW GoPower running $50k worth of radios on remote microwave sites 24/7, and they've been rock solid. As you know I'm right over the hill if you and Mr.Wizard need an extra hammer and saw 🙂

Thanks MrWizard. The DW and I are in massive information overload. We have things we want in the new MH and they just don't make in our price range and length. Tackling each issue means spending more money to make modifications. At least I know they cane be done.

I installed an 400watt inverter in my Minnie class C a few years ago and hardwired it to the batteries. I put in a toggle switch under the dinette seat on the kick plate. Then I ran an extension cord up to the TV compartment for the satellite receiver. The TV is 12v and has a built in DVD player. So it's dedicated for the receiver. Only used it once in all this time and just for the satellite.

My default is converter disconnected from 120 volt disconnected. I use male and female plugs to do so.

How is the wiring done to avoid having the converter charger being used when on the inverter?

we are in the area, glad to help if I can

the post meant... hard to offer more informative advice with out seeing the coach

when my uncle bought his Thor Serrano in 2010
battery compartment was in the forward have of the coach on the drivers side, in between the first storage compartment and the generator
mounted the inverter in the forward storage compartment right next door to the batteries
ran 120v cable from the inverter thru frame to rear of coach to reach area of breaker panel under the rear bed,
disconnected TV circuit from breaker panel and connected to inverter feed, that circuit is ALWAYS on inverter, never shore or generator

ran remote for inverter across coach thru the forward bays, then up into cabinet space next to entry door, mounted remote next to the step switch and battery disconnect
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

Inverter does not power the whole panel... just the one circuit after the panel.

If somehow the converter is on that circuit you move the converter power connection to a different breaker.

That is how mine works.

I have and recommend Go Power 300 watt sine wave inverter for this use.

If possible mount behind the breaker/fuse panel. Use the existing 12v main battery cable for power and a small transfer switch to power the single circuit you need.

Go Power $172

Switch $50

I would break out that circuit from the breaker box and connect it to an inverter install, with a junction box behind or under the breaker panel
Can't say how where to install The inverter and connecting wiring, without seeing the RV

MrWizard, I thought you live in Van Nuys, I'm just a stones throw in North Hills. Or are you now full timing it and on the road? We still have to find the MH at the right price and decor, that's the big problem. All these things that are missing from this entry level Class A seem to be able to buy and install or work around.
