Phone went dark!

One minute my Kyocera phone was just fine, and the next it was dark and wouldn't start. The battery was not discharged.

I tried the on/off button, that same button with the volume down button, went on youtube and found a suggestion to hold the buttons along with plugging in the charger at the same time.. nothing worked.

The Verizon site suggested using a computer as a 'trickle charger' instead of the regular charger. And bingo, that worked!

I noticed that lately when on the wireless charger the phone would keep disconnecting and reconnecting to that. Strange.

Anyway, just passing this along in case you have trouble.

2old man doesn't worry because as a photographer, he has offline hardware backups in place and (I think) his own photo websites,
He is Not being careless, it just seemed that way,
Because he did not elaborate
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

I don't worry about stuff like that.

Ignorance is bliss?

If you just use it as a phone and leave everything else turned off, that approach works fine.

If you actually use more of the functionality, having at least basic security approach is very valuable.

It takes some time but apps are the easy part.

It's the files such as pictures. If you give Google access to everything in your life, it's protected from hardware failure but not from Google being hacked. Pick your poison.

Yup your phone is dead or dying. Happened to me many years ago.

I found it easy to reinstall all my apps. The Google Play store has a record of what you bought and what you have on your account.
When I bought my S21 I went to GP and it showed a list of all my apps. Tap and install and I was done.
It was pretty painless.

Bought our S10's almost 2 years ago. Rembering 4 years earlier when we got Moto Droids from Verizon. It was like a surgical procedure transferring stuff from old phones to new, and the Verizon employee had to do it in the store. Now, you take the phone home, turn it on, follow the screen prompts and you're done. Obviously the phone is backed up on a Google cloud somewhere, I was in awe of it all. ๐Ÿ™‚

Good to know the days of DIY backup are over.

I'm puzzled. An Android phone needs a Google account. On my third Android phone in 10 years or so. Haven't lost contacts, photos, nothing. It's all been wherever Google keeps it and has downloaded to every new phone without skipping a beat. What am I missing?

A suggestion I've used is.. If your phone allows. Copy settings to the removable memory card. Works well.

I used to do that with my previous Samsung Galaxy phones.

Sadly, they dropped the SD card in the S21. I bought an S21 phone and I am very disappointed with it. Quality has diminished substantially.

I bought another phone but, I lost all my contacts. Fortunately my pictures came back.
Make sure everything is backed up.

If it is a screen only problem and the phone will still start, data can be retrieved by plugging it in to a computer. If you can get it started without looking at the screen.

My Galaxy S7 was warning me it was going south so I plugged it into my laptop, bought a little program called Droid Transfer and proceeded to save everything on my phone, text messages, pictures, lots more. Only thing I forgot was my notes.

A few days after I backed up everything, my phone was sitting on my desk and it exploded!! :E:E

Don't think it works on Apple though, just anything Android
