I don't know if you can download just a plugin or not. I used this site or the one in the original post, unchecked the McAfee Security Scan Plus option (don't like programs that install other programs). The plugin is contained in the full installation version.

Then check the addons for Firefox with this page:

blangen, uninstall all of your Flash, all of your JAVA, and your Adobe Reader. Never install JAVA again. Never. You probably don't need it. Use PDF Xchange Viewer to replace your Adobe Reader. And the next time you are prompted to use Flash, install only the latest web plugin for Flash and keep it updated. You don't need the full version of Flash unless you have a library of .swf files that you need to play.
Flash updates, while sometimes include enhancements, are usually to patch serious security holes. Secunia has a free suite of tools to help you know when updates are needed.

Like most updates to secondary versions (not the 11. ) they are usually security issue fixes.
Read at Macromedia Flash Player 8 - this might help.

Ok, Mr Moderator, at the risk of hijacking this thread, maybe you can tell me about the ins and outs of "Flash". There is Adobe, obviously, but also Flash Player and flash interweb and flash plug-ins for Firefox and flash this and flash that. It seems like each of these animals is hounding me at one time or another to "Update Now!" Which, in your opinion, should I be using (with an eye toward security)? If there isn't a clear answer, maybe this would just be easier on you, maybe you could post a link or three to further reading on the subject? I know I'm not the only one of us RVers being hounded to Update Now! And, well, you being Moderator, I figure you're the tech guy with the answer. Is there just one of these Flash thingies that I need and I can kill the rest?
PS: Sorry... just couldn't pass up the opportunity to say "flash interweb". ๐

Is there anything notable about this version?
