Satellite TV Dish - Replace or keep what I have?

There's a dish on top of my motorhome. I haven't got up there to see what it is yet, but the previous owner told me he used it on Direct TV.

I want a Dish Network setup, so is it best to change out the dish or attempt to keep what I have?

The Winnebago is factory wired for satellite TV with labeled connections.

I will get the info off the old dish and report back in the morning.

Thanks for your help.

I'm not going to spend much money on this older dish. I can replace the dish with a new one from eBay pretty cheap.

Yeah, you'll need the model number of the dome you have. There should be a small decal or plate on the bottom but you may have to remove the dome to find it if it's not there. Some domes can be reprogrammed to either Dish or Direct but not all. Either way, if you're looking for anything other than SD, you'll have to upgrade...Dennis

If it is an open face manual setup then you will need to replace it to work with DISH. If it's a dome and it was installed prior to about 2012 then you will need to replace the dome to work with DISH. If it is a dome installed after 2012, many can be used with either DISH or DirecTV but some required a computer to make a change.
Let us know what kind of antenna you have, who manufactured it and how old it is. If it's a post 2012 Winegard it's just a matter or removing the dome and changing a couple of dip switches.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?
