I believe DropBox Free disabled Public folder's capability to direct link photos? So cannot be viewed within a forum post?

Yea I saw the comment area, but didn't like the overall format so what I did now has the caption included with the pic so if I ever have to do this again it will be a one step process. Fortunately I only had 300 pics and captions to do, but still took several days to xfr everything and work the comments into the main picture, but it's now done.

This is now the second time I've gone thru this since I originally started out with WEBSHOTS then PB and now GOOGLE.

I've used the Captions, but couldn't find where it shows... probably didn't look far enough..

FYI - Computer Albums:
Here's what I'm doing now as I post way to many pics all over the place.
PC computer I set up album like "Trip Pics" and then underneath it, sub folders with the locations, "State_Location" and then 2 sub folders under that "Email" and "Originals".

So it would look like this:

Trip Pics
-AZ_Quartzsite
----Email
----Originals
-AZ_SunsetCrater
----Email
----Originals
....... (without the leading dashes ' - '

Now I use Adobe's Lightroom to select and make the selected ones all 'Purdy' so out of some 200 pics per location, I'll select all 200, heheh, joking, I'll '1 star' the pics I like, hopefully apx half, then make'em purdy and then EXPORT as .jpgs and smaller sized 640pix and save them to the "EMAIL" folder.

Once the "Album pics, smaller sized" are in the EMAIL folder, I'll upload these to the Google photo albums.

So now I have either a 'Photo Address' from Google Album 'Shared' to copy/paste/post or I can upload from the 'EMAIL' folder in other cases.

Been doing it for a few years now and seems to be working well for me.

I still have the originals, large files, .jpg or NEF.. and selected pics sized smaller for postings.
They are listed by State location to keep the all in on state and then by the location within the state

Hope that helps.. but Waaaay too many photos. heheheh,

For those that already are Amazon Prime members, you already have unlimited photo hosting ability without any additional charge.

Just go to https://www.amazon.com/photos and login. Create an album and upload some pictures. Add those pictures to an album, then click on the picture to get the "share link" URL. Functionality is not much different than other image hosting websites.

I don't understand the supposed issues with Google Photos captions. Embedding the caption in the jpg photo file is the logical place for captions since it stays with the photo wherever it resides as opposed to external captions that don't follow the photo. If you were a Google Picasa user before the Google migration to Google Photos, the captions were still there.

Obviously I agree with the belief that Google Photos currently is as good as or better than any of the alternatives for all aspects of photo management as suggested in previous posts. Who knows if this will remain true as technology evolves but I am quite happy with Google Photos today and it keeps getting better.

Use the RVnet photo posting url.

http://photoposting.is-great.net/?i=3

1.Click on the button 'select'.
2.Open your picture file.
3.Click on the picture and open and it uploads it.
4.It then provides you with the correct code to copy and then post on the forum.

No charge and no one holds your pictures hostage for a fee. AND BEWARE tinypic new rules, they now delete your picture links if there are not constant clicks on the picture link you posted. I've lost all of mine from not using them regularly. :R

BTW: I save the link to RVnet photo posting to my desktop so its just a click away opened in a separate tab.

While that might be O.K. for embedding single or a couple pics in a post it can't be used like I have linking my RainKap and Eternabond INSTALL albums in my signature (see my first post in this thread) nor is just having them on your computer allows you to arrange them into albums and in a specific order to tell a story or show a procedure. I have about 4 or 5 albums arranged in specific order with associated captions that I have often referred to in my responses to various topics. Finally, you might be a member of another forum where uploading or posting a pic directly from you computer is not provided for.

That's where I moved all my pics along with deleting all my PB pics and deleting my PB account. Biggest downside on Google pics is lack of having a caption to be included, but I edited all my photos and included the caption inside the photo.

Larry, I'm seeing a place to "Comment" when you click on the smaller pics in the album to bring up the big pic. If you hover the mouse down at the bottom of the pic, it'll have "Leave a comment" if that helps at all.
I here ya on the Caption thing, heheh, I'm wondering where it does show up...
Google, go figure...
