Switched to New Verizon Plan

It looks like it just depends upon what you had as to whether you want to change plans. I just changed from 18GB for 100 per month - (85 after 15 percent military discount) to 16GB for 90 per month (76.50 after mil disc).

My data allowance went down 2GB per month for app 10 dollars less per month. What I gained was phone AND data usage for Canada and Mexico as well as the ability to roll over unused data to the next month. Both the rollover and the ability to call as well as use DATA while in Canada were things we wanted. We plan to make another trip to Alaska in the next couple years so that is great for us. FYI - the Canada roaming in NOT included in the 2, 4 or 8 GB plans.

We switched also! The main reason is the roll over data, sometimes the park provides wifi, sometimes they do not. With this plan if we are at a park that provides WiFi then we can roll the data usage into next month!

Roll over data is nice. Too bad one can't save it up for months later.

For those like me who's cell data use varies significantly month to month, instead of paying for a higher data plan every month, you can pay for a lower plan based on your avg data use and then increase it only during the months your useage goes way up. For example, you have a 16GB plan but for whatever reason you know in the middle of Sept you're going to use up 20 GB, go into My Verizon online (or call customer service if you prefer) and change your plan to the 24GB plan, backdated for your Sept billing period, and only pay the $20 difference between the 16 and 24GB plans for the month (instead of $15 per GB overage charge). Then at the end of the month go back in and change back to the 16GB plan.
Verizon still may not have the cheapest or best plans, but they do have the best coverage by far, in the remote western US where I spend all my time. So I'm willing to put up with slightly higher prices for better coverage where I need it.

for years verizon has let me change data plans anytime I wanted to. I could choose the plan changes to take effect immediately or at the next billing period. I backed off to 2gb when we were home and them would up it to 8 or 12GB for the months we traveled a lot. Usually changed it 4 or 5 times/year. Worked great for us.

I did go with the new plan, for us, based on the data we needed, it went down $10/month. And it will likely result in lower bills since data rolls, I can watch my data and in lots of cases drop to a lower plan near the end of a traveling season and use the rolled data + monthly allowance rather than buying another month of higher data.

We changed our plan yesterday as well. Went from 12 gig to 16 gig and saved $22.00 per month. I'm glad Verizon went back to roll over data.
