I have an apple ipad, which works great, but does not support flash player. Does anyone own or have knowledge of an inexpensive tablet that has flash player? Also, with that type of tablet, would I need to buy virus protection? Thanks to all suggestions.

WIN 8 Surface tablets may support Flash, but not what I would consider inexpensive by an means. I picked up an Acer 11.6" core2duo Netbook, which is almost as fast as my Asus Core i3 notebook, with WIN 7 home premium installed for about $250. Upgraded to WIN 8 for $14.99. And not only fully supports Flash, but all my existing WIN programs.

Strange that an iPad would have difficulty connecting over other devices.

Just sounds like a signal strength or shared bandwidth limitation.

btw...
Adobe Flash still works with any Android version.
Been sideloading it on every update thru JellyBean to 4.2

Thanks for the info. We're at an rv park right now that has wifi. The hosts here said that, for some reason, Apple products have a hard time getting connected. We get connected after a long wait, with our ipads, then we get disconnected.

You can run the full Flash player on Windows 8, or use Windows 8 with IE10 that has Flash built-in. You can also use Windows RT tablets like the Microsoft Surface that have IE10 with Flash. My wife and I both have Surfaces and they work fine for nearly all content, vs. the iPad or Android tablets where the browsing experience seems more variable across different sites and devices. (That is, some sites work, some don't.)

Disclaimer: I work for Microsoft.

For a cheap Android tablet check out the 7" Google Nexus. Last week Frys had it on sale $150. The Google I/O conference is this week. Google is probably going to update the specs on the tablet. The old version should go on sale. Not all cheap tablets are created equal. The Nexus should last for some time.

As mentioned, some tablets can side load Flash.

You can probably run flash on a W8 tablet.

This sounds way more complicated than it should be. I can continue to use my laptop when I need flash. Hopefully, the sites that use use it will get the message that it's no longer supported.

BTW, even if you have Flash working in an Android tablet, it may end up being a moot point. If a website detects that you are accessing it through a mobile OS device including Android, it may redirect you to an alternative webpage without Flash content. Kind of alluded to it earlier, but that's basically what I do.

In any case, if you specifically need Flash, then you will likely be better off doing so using an inexpensive Netbook instead.

Well, it does not work in FIREFOX on the Galaxy Note 10.1 either. I just tested it thoroughly.

I also don't believe Flash is going bye bye anytime soon on the PC. Especially, where steaming video is concerned. That is as long as the Flash player is still supported by all the major PC browsers. And until the same browsers agree on at least one single HTML5+ video format supported by all.

In fact, I don't even bother with multiple video formats on my website or in Dropbox. Just use a single MP4 encoded video file which is streamed via Flash for all PC desktop browsers, and the same MP4 streamed using HTML5 for mobile devices such as for iOS or Android, using a simple Javascript file to determine which player to use based on the device. This covers vast the majority of current users.

Really? Here is a screenshot of my B&N Nook Color running Android Jellybean(4.1), with the above referenced Flash for Android 4.0 .apk installed, using Firefox for Android.

I can ensure you that the Flash animation does play, but you will need a powerful processor for best Flash playback. My B&N Nook Color is only single-core 800Mhz. I also do have a B&N 9" HD+ tablet which has a dual-core 1.5Ghz processor, but haven't had time to configure it yet.

BTW, if using Firefox for Android, make sure to enable Plugins under Firefox Settings. I don't believe the Dolphin browser supports Flash in Jellybean(4.1).

This process worked fine for my old Motorola Xoom. However I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, with JB on it, and even with Dolphin Browser it will not work.

Oh yes, you can install it from the SD card, but try to set it to 'on' from within Dolphin and it gives this message: "Flash Player not supported for Android 4.1" - then it says "Adobe has officially discontinued support for Flash Player on Android. Playing Flash will crash Dolphin so we have turned it off to ensure the most stable browsing experience....."

I have Firefox installed as well - haven't tested that as yet.

That's correct. The Flash Player plugin is not available on Google PLAY. However, you can download most any previous version of Flash for Android devices directly from Adobe's Flash Archives:

These were the latest versions. Just download or transfer to your devices microSD Card, and use a file manager to locate the file and click on Flash .apk. If you don't have a file manager already installed, you can select from a number of free ones available from the Google Play store.
