Camping with a friend who has a 32"lcd Consensus TV. When setting up at the RV park and doing the auto scan for his TV it will scan and detect over the air channels but when we scan when on cable, It receives no signal for any cable channels.

When scanning for cable the TV is connected to the TV power outlet in the ceiling and the power button is turned off . We select cable on the TV and click auto scan and no channels are detected.

We bypassed the outside park cable outlet and go directly to the back of the TV and it will detect the Cable channels.

Any thoughts on the problem of not detecting cable channels?

We are no longer parked together so I can't work on his TV but I have passed on the suggestions to him but I am afraid it will be the same way when we camp together again lol!

If you are near Darien, GA I can do a house call.. Unless there are political signs all over your campground.

I can't help you with your problem but I would like to comment on Old Biscuit's response. This man always goes over and above with his answers and pictures to help who ever he can. I think that that is great, and I thank him

also...do you have a video source selector switch or box between the cable connection outside and the TV?

First you have to make sure that cable is connected and if you are not the original owner that the prior owner did not mess with the cable...cable (Diagrams above so I won't repost).

Then, There are cable systems, cable systems and cable systems.. NOT all Televisions can scan one of those systems Element TV's for example can only scan NTSC analog and ATSC digital, on QAM detector in the unit (most cable systems are QAM) and to make matters worse SOME cable systems are encrypted, Your Television can not receive them.

The one I'm on is ATSC/NTSC digital/analog mixed, they do not change the signals they get OTA they just pass 'em on.. Very rare.

When using the CABLE setup from the pedestal you have to also make sure the ANTENNA WALL PANEL small LED in not ON. The LED tells you are supplying 12VDC up to your OTA ANTENNA to watch HDTV from local towns using your BATWING roof antenna. When this LED is lit this inhibits the CABLE TV SIGNALS coming from the campground pedestal...

Hopefully this fixes the problem otherwise it must be miswiring...

Agree to check all connections. Quite possible something got missed when hooking things up at the factory.

Have you pulled wall plate and checked that the cable connection is tight on back of connector?

Have you pulled wall plate and disconnected cable coax and tried it directly to TV?

Have you pulled cable connection on outside of RV and checked it is connected?

Is it time for your medication or mine?
