This is an offshoot of another thread.

I want to get an internet based land line. I get the concept but have no experience with it. Which one do you recommend and why? Let me add, I'm willing to pay a recurring fee if it gets me a better service, etc.

Same here without the premium service. Have had Ooma about 5 years. Left ATT and transferred our landline phone number. I have the regular service with taxes only about the same as above.

You do need a good internet connection.

I have had Ooma for over a year and LOVE it. The way they handle telemarketers alone is worth every penny. Probably 95% of our spam calls go straight to voicemail - which means they hang up and we are never bothered.

Quality is great, features are more than we could ever need, and service has been very reliable (only goes out when DSL goes down.)

Wish I had done it sooner.

Good ratings by PC Mag. and others, US (California) based customer service, lots of features including unlimited free Canadian calling (both ways) and a second (cloned) line. Works well for fax too.
