Windows 10 DVD Player

I discovered that I am unable to play DVDs on my new HP/Win10 laptop. (insurance replacement for laptop that was taken in a burglary)
Can anyone recommend a program that will allow me to do this?
Is BlueRay capability a software issue, and will it work on my laptop?

Yes, standard DVD...

Win10 does not include DVD play software.

Managed to download VLC, and so far so good on the first dvd I tried.

Dvd and CD drive is common, Blu-Ray in a pc is an option
A single layer dvd is 4+ gig
A single layer br is 25 gig
Software will not make a DVD drive read a br disc
Stand alone br players can also play DVDs

I have read vlc can be picky with win 10 BR codecs
