Wingard X1 or Tailgater

I am looking at either the Winegard X1 or the Dish Tailgater. I know the X1 is limited to the western us. But what about the Tailgater? We live and travel mainly in the west.

None of the domes do HD on DirecTV.

sorry about jumping on this, but isn't the Winegard G2 a better, although a bit more $, satellite dish than the X1,the X2 or the tailgater? And no, I don't have one, just thinking about buying one.

x2 on the X2! We had a Tailgator, but upgraded to the X2 after I got tired of dealing with the weak signal from the Tailgator. The X2 is bigger, heavier, and harder to store, but a much heavier duty piece of equipment, picks up the southeastern satellites, and works like a charm - worth the extra $100 if you ask me.

The X1 and the Tailgater have similar parameters. They both use Western satellites only, they both have similar sized antennas and they both require the 211/411 series receivers to operate. The X1 will allow you to connect 2 receivers while the Tailgater allows only 1 but otherwise, there is not much difference. The X2 is a much larger housing, but would be my choice even if the only place I could find to store it was inside somewhere until we could get to our next stop. The large antenna and the EA/WA/72.7 options cannot be had with any other portable.

Read my lips... The Winegard X2 is 10 times better than the X1. I tried both and found the X2 will locate the signal faster, no failed connections, works on either east or west satellites and easy as eating apple pie to set up.

Winegard X1 and tailgater are not much different.. Winegard X2 is the one I'd recommend if you are going with that class of antenna, Bigger (more gain) and can locate both eastern and western arcs... X1 and Tailgater can not do that.
