Newbie here. Looking to upgrade my headlights on my 1990 RV.
I have no clue what kind of lights are on it now, but I can't see a darn thing at night with them. I am wondering if I can replace the bulbs in these headlights? Or, do I have to put new headlights on it?
What is the best kind of lights I can upgrade to without much hassle, or expense.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but the rig is a 1990, the headlights are too far gone for anything else other then replacing. On our rig rear lights are $50 for a set, front OEM are $35 for the set. I have tried the compound, work for a short while, but not long lasting.

Looks like those are the square headlights and you have separate high and low beams, right?

First, check and see if the headlight is all one unit. 1990's most vehicles were using the plastic housing around a replaceable bulb, but I have a 1989 truck that uses whole glass headlight and lens.

Should be able to just tap on the front and if it is plastic, then it has a bulb that gets inserted. This will most likely use the very common standard 9005 (highbeam) and 9006 (low beam) bulbs. Also, be sure someone didn't put them in backwards (putting high beam into the low beam, etc.)

I like the suggestion on cleaning the lens. Plastic lens tend to get foggy over time.

Another thing to look at is how they are aimed. I usually park on level ground about 20' away from my garage door. There are other websites that take you step by step on how to aim them, just google it.

Look on the headlight for the DOT code, perform a search. You should come up (hopefully) of the make and model of vehicle that they were used on.
Another way, get a picture go to an auto store and look thru catalogs.

I know on our unit front are 97-2001 Ford Explorer, rear for Ford 97-03 F150 Flareside

First thing I would do is run a new ground wire from each light to the chassis or the battery negative. Probably the most common issue is a bad/corroded ground connection.

Have the lens turned yellow and been scratched from driving and sun? There are a bunch of kits out now to polish them and with new bulbs might get the job done.

A common issue is low voltage at the lights. Grab a voltmeter and check the voltage on the hot side of the bulb and the ground side too. If any voltage on the ground side your ground wire needs attention. If low voltage on the hot side some folks run their own power and add a relay to control it.
