broken windows

Has anybody seen or heard of windows breaking because of hot weather? Went to the storage lot today & found two broken windows, shattered as if hit with a rock or shot out. The storage lot owner says he circled the lot this morning and the windows were fine. He said he had another customer last week that had their window break because of the heat. My rv was parked in the middle of lot because of maintenance being done around the perimeter of the fence and there was no obvious break in. Thanks for any information.

Was the glass inside the camper or outside the camper ? Did you find any rocks laying around ? Did the guy know someone who could fix it for you ? Call the manufacture and ask if they have ever heard of windows breaking because of heat.
If it happens again put a game camera in the window .

A car clised up is a lot more air-tight than an RV closed up.

My vote would be for "kids and rocks".

Back to the OP. Heat may break one, but not two and certainly not the same thing happen to others in the same area. too many coincidences

Has anyone heard of windows breaking due to heat stress? (Reworded a bit).

Yup, sure have, Many times, (Professional hazard, most folks driving along when the window suddenly shatters from heat stress think they have been shot at so they call 9-1-1,,, my office phone number when I was a working stiff).

Mine did not shatter, it cracked.

I live in Phoenix, AZ. I've seen temperatures inside my parked RV in the summer reach 115. No broken windows.

Sounds more like "hot air" than hot weather ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have actually seen it happen. VERY hot day, car sitting out in full sun all closed up. Window just shatters. Glass stayed in the frame, but was shattered so badly you couldn't see through it. It was impressive. Fortunately, not my car.

That being said, it is rare. I also would look for BB's or other projectile.

X2 on everything formentioned...The only time that I have seen glass break from heat was when my 79 Cordoba was sitting in the sun with all windows up during a heatwave, triple dark red, and it blew out the back glass...As mentioned a little investigation is due look for location of broken glass, any projectiles,IE BB's,rocks, any damage to the outer skin, what direction were the lawn care people mowing, any kids hanging around looking nervous.

I live and worked in Yuma, Az for 30 years and the only time glass broke on our work trucks was when they sat in the sun all day and someone decided to hose them down with cold water.

I worked in the auto industry for 37 years. It is not that uncommon for safety glass to fail from heat. But, a car can be very tight, and build up pressure and heat. There were discussions about poor glass from supplier, faulty window mechanism, even chemicals from the interior materials (think, FEMA trailers). Some times windows just blew. Having said all that, I'd look for B Bs on the floor of the rig.

I'd bet my money on either a weedeater, lawnmower or vandalism.
