Class A Replacing Norcold refrig

We have a 2004 Winnebago adventurer & refrigerator area does not slide out. We want to replace non functioning Norcold w a residential but not sure how to determine correct size to have enough space to open the doors & where to find one.

With all due respect if you are not capable of measuring the existing area and measuring a new refrigerator to see if it fits, I doubt you have the skills necessary to tackle a replacement. You would be better served finding a facility or person with the skills to do the job for you. Good luck.

Also should mention, They cost around $ 400.00.

My son has replaced 2 different 8 cubic foot Nevercold fridges in 2 motor homes in the last 3 years. He goes to Lowes. They make a 9 cubic foot replacement that slides right in with no modifying. Bolts down in back and he used a trim strip on top for extra security. You will need to figure out a way to hold the doors shut on the road. I think he found some on amazon that worked.

Both Dometic and Norcold have compressor fridges that are roughly the same size as the absorption fridge you have now.

Choose a residential fridge that has dimensions the same or slightly smaller than the Norcold it'll replace, and then note the door thickness to locate where the hinges will be. The fridge specifications sometime make that easy by listing a depth with the doors off. Using that information, stretch out a tape measure to the width of fridge, hold one end approximately where the hinges will be, and see if it swings through a normal door opening arc with no obstruction. It has to at least allow enough opening swing to permit removal and replacement of full width shelves and/or bins. Our residential fridge door for instance clears the wall corner across from it by 1-1/2".

Measure the opening of the existing fridge. Measure the opening size of your entry door. Go online, Lowes, HD or other choices. Find a size the fits your measured opening, you might have to trim opening. Most entry doors are 27", so it doesn't matter where that size is on new unit. If you are unsure about propane lines, elec. connections, you might seek help.

With the idea of a residential fridge, have you given up on dry camping/boondocking? Or how have you addressed the electric issue?
