C W in Indy. Went in to buy a 3" "O" ring for mu sewer cap a 2013 model and guess what ? it's a special order. Really! it's a standard rubber "o" ring. we all have them, they do get old they do break. So why a special order. And the sales person say " can't carry everything" and walks away. And they want to know why they get a bad rap.

Good one! Wouldn't it be nice if you could go into a McDonalds and simply be able to figure out where the customer line starts? And when you finally get to the counter and place your order for a simple "plain" hamburger, you would not get one back fully dressed. AND wouldn't it be nice if, when you go through the drive through, and you include a drink with your meal, they would also give you a straw! Yup! In today's world, there's much to complain about.

How about the time we went to McDonalds and got the Big Breakfast at the drive through. We drove down the road to a nearby park as we were traveling (without the camper), just to find out they did not put any plastic-silverware in the bag! DUH! Talk about complaining!

Oh, and then the time we went through the McDonald's drive through (just last week) and they told us to pull forward and wait and they'd bring the order out. Pull forward where? no spots anywhere. After 20 minutes sitting in the middle of the drive and cars having to maneuver around me, my wife slid over to the drivers seat and I went inside the building. Um.... where's my order ... it was truly the "deer caught in a headlight look" back at me! Sheesh.

Yup.... me and McDonalds don't get along very well. So, we all complain about something, don't we? It's definitely NOT a perfect world is it?

Wouldn't it be great if you went to a Rv store and every one in there were RV'ers and understood RVing? Wouldn't it be nice to go into a McDonalds and every one there working wanted to be a fry cook, burger flipper and toilet scrubber and do so with so much enthusiasm.

I hate to stereotype, but when I'm in CW and if I have a question, I will generally ask an older person there working the question. I just feel that I will have better luck asking them a question pertaining to my RV. Rather than the younger and pretty girl there. Not that the older person would know more, but the odds are in my favor that they probably know what I am talking about. And I generally try to only go to my local CW. I know who are good to talk to. I have a service rep that I will only work with. Sometimes we do go to other CW's, but unless it's an emergency, we are only picking up fun stuff.

I have been to many CW stores and they have always been courteous and well staffed. I have found that they don't carry very many small fixit type items, plumbing supplies, etc. They are not a hardware store. That just isn't their niche.

When I went to purchase O rings the second store we stopped at had them in stock so I bought an extra bag.

I have never been to a CW that the checkout counter wasn't staffed and the employees were not courteous.

I can certainly understand some items being special order. What I can't deal with is the overall attitudes of CW employees.

I full time and have been in 'many' different CW's and across the board acorss the states I have yet to meet an employee that wanted to be helpful and/or didn't have an attitude.

My biggest complaint is HAVE someone AT THE REGISTER! Every CW I have been at when it comes time to check out you have to walk all over the store and FIND someone to check you out and then they are all put out about having to do so.

I had the same problem a few YEARS ago with the same Camping World. Rather than fighting city hall, I just bought another cap that included the ring. I took the ring out, used it on my old cap (it fit better anyway), and went on with life. Sometimes, it's just easier to compromise.
DutchmenSport, with all due respect I feel if we as consumers compromise too much that will breed poor customer service. Poor customer service is what we complain about most.

Ok you post to a site complaining about poor customer service and you fear that it will breed poor customer service. :h

What is wrong with CW.

Low wage employees most likely... Now I know what they have cause I shop there and I know how it works cause I use it (Same when I worked a season at Radio Shcak) but so many of their workers really do not know the hardware.. Only the "Item of the month" that Management is pushing... IF that.

They have no clue... Not like the independant RV store where I walked in and ask for a new cap for the stink pipe (Sewer vent cap)

Man knew exactly what I wanted took me to the very hook on the peg board.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Make a penny and not loose a sale or maybe lots of sales. I don't shop with them just because they don't carry many of things I need but do carry lots of high priced extras that I would never use.
