RVs Parks for Long Term vs "Campground" RV Parks

I'm still about a year away from getting a travel trailer and tow vehicle, but I've started looking for possible places to stay next summer. For the first five years or so, I'll be working full time (from "home"), so I'm looking for a place to stay for about three months. I'm not really looking for a typical resort/campground type of place, because I think that would be too expensive. I'm looking for more of a place where people go to stay for longer periods of time, where the rates would be lower.

Is my thinking correct here? Are there RV "parks" that are meant more for long-term stays where the rates are lower than RV parks that are destinations for tourists/visitors only planning to stay for a week or several weeks? If so, does anyone know of a good resource online for finding these places?

Check around the Okeechobee area.
Plenty of parks, plenty of variety pricewise.

Around here (SW Ohio , SE Indiana), there are a number of places with seasonal leases. I see a lot of them offered on Craig's List under the RV folder. Some are just in the woods, some have marinas on the river.

I use rvparksreview to find parks in an area and then click on their own web site link to get the rates and discounts. Works fast for me if i know what part of that state I will be looking at

The places where I have seen lots of long term "residents" were not places I felt safe staying at even overnight. If it was a place for seniors it would be different but these were people that were evidently barely scrapping by and a different sort altogether.

Each area is quite different and you should probably drive around and pull into every campgroun in your area, look them over and ask for information.

I don't know where you're headed, but monthly rates around here average about $400 a month for full hookups. A lot of mobile home parks will also house long term RVers, for about the same price.

To answer your question, many (most?) RV parks offer long-term rates for monthly stays or longer, as well as the more commonly cited daily and weekly rates. You may have to call to determine their pricing for longer stays but my experience is that most offer a monthly rate at a substantial reduction from the daily price. Monthly prices will often require that electricity used be paid for separately.

As an administrator for RVParkReveiws.com I don't know of any special method for determining which parks offer such discounts, but, since they're pretty common I would simply pick a few parks in the vicinity of where you wish to stay and make a few phone calls.
