Some questions regarding ordering a new TT

Hey all, been around all classes of campers all my life but finally taking the plunge and buying one ourselves. We have found one we really like, the Keystone Bullet Premiere 34BHPR model. 37', around 7k lbs, I have a 2008 F250 with tow package and 4.10 gears so definitely have enough to pull it with. A couple questions though regarding this, and I hope some of you fine folks can point me in the right direction.

1) We live in South Florida and there aren't a lot of dealers in our area that have Keystone. Most of the Keystone dealers are around 120-150 miles away, and none of them have the 34BHPR in stock (although after talking with Keystone they said one is being delivered July 27th). So chances are we will end up having to have one ordered and built.

How does this process work? Do you basically go to the dealer, set up everything you want, and then the order gets placed? Do you deal with all the financing and actually sign the papers then? Or once it gets built? We plan on doing financing outside the dealership.

2) It looks like the closest place we can order from would be a Camping World in Ft. Meyers. I know there are mixed opinions on Camping World, but chances are I should be ok if I am ordering brand new through them?

3) I plan on getting the Equalizer Hitch. Should I just have them install it once it gets delivered? I am assuming I would also have to have the hitch installed on my truck at some point during the delivery process.

Thanks so much in advance for any help and/or guidance you can provide!

Well after all, we ended up finding one we really liked as well on RV Direct. 2016 Jayco Eagle 324BHTS. Still never heard anything back from Camping World, and it sounds like that probably isn't a bad thing. Thanks so much for these links, still researching but RVDircet.com was a great link, and they deliver to either Tampa or Orlando which is great for us.

Don't forget to check rvwholesalers.com too, another good online seller.

I know this is not directly related, but thought you might want a data point on the Keystone Bullets. We took delivery of our Bullet 272BHS and love it.

I totally respect that not everyone is willing to drive to the midwest to pay rock bottom prices for an RV. I do still encourage anyone in the market to get a quote to you have a baseline vs. local. Few people report paying less for an RV than from the dealers mentioned in this thread.

How far is Leisure Time RV?

Does it have to be that Bulllet? There are several other brands offering similar floorplans. Coachmen Freedom Express 320? Outback 323? PrimeTime Tracer 3200? I know where you can buy an Outback 301BQ Diamond Package for $26k. ๐Ÿ™‚

I just went through the order process with Keystone in April on our new Montana. First off the dealers will always push you toward what they have on the lot and our local Camping World did not even want to talk about ordering a unit so I took my money elsewhere. The dealer I used was great.( Jamatt RV ) Keystone has a build sheet for each brand that the dealer can give you. It has all the models, options, colors, interiors, prices and discounts. You can spec the trailer how you want it and know what the retail cost is. Then you can work with your dealer on what your actual cost is. 30% off retail is a good starting point. We did this and placed a $2000 deposit on March 30. The time it takes will depend on where the factory is on their model rotation. We lucked up and they where going to be building 3100 RL's the week of April 13th. Ours was built on the 14th. Keystone sets up the transportation to your dealer so that can take a while. They told us sometimes 2 weeks. We lucked up again and our was picked up on the 17th. We took delivery 6 days later. One thing I really liked was we had a contact at the factory through Keystone customer service that kept me updated on the entire process. She also put me in touch with one of the factory reps when I had a question she could not answer.
A lot of people on here trash Keystone and many have good reason but this was a very good experience for us and the new trailer has been great with no major problems. Our 2007 Keystone Laredo bought new was flawless for 7 years and we hope the new Montana will be also. Good luck no matter how you get it.

On edit: If a dealer has a order already in for a stock unit that is the same model you want they can change that order to your spec and you have a place in the rotation sooner.

I looked at both the problem is neither of them carry the make or model we are looking for. They have Keystone but other makes.

That's unusual, I thought both could get you anything you wanted from Keystone. Did you inquire if they could special order it for you?

I didn't see anywhere to choose it when I went to "custom order". I really like that company site too, as well as the fact that I can pick up in Tampa or Orlando. I am inquiring now to see if they can order campers outside of the one's they have listed. Thanks.

Edit: Just heard back from them, they are not a Bullet dealer so they cannot order it. Ugh.

Call Lakeshore for low quote. I would find a better dealer than Camping World. I still haven't heard anything good from them. I was considering buying a TT from one in another state, but every interaction with them caused concern. Plus they came up with $2300 in fees over their "lowest advertised price". They were not willing to transfer to a closer dealer either.

I definitely like how you can build the camper there, very nice. Problem is, I really would prefer not to have to drive to Michigan to get the camper (being in South Florida). That seems to be my biggest issue right now, I want to buy that model, I just am having issues finding someone to sell it that's close!

I actually had to write back to the sales manager at the closest Camping World to us saying I had left messages the last 2 days and have not heard anything back. It's almost like they don't want your business. I have also not heard the greatest things about Camping World, but to be honest, pretty much every RV store I can find in Florida has negative reviews, I'm just assuming it's the squeaky wheel gets the grease kind of thing.

P.S. Also I'm planning on giving whomever I deal with my "out the door" price. Basically, I have the money to pay you, and this is what I'm willing to pay you. Any additional fees, etc..., need to somehow be figured into that price. If they come up with $2300 and it goes above my "out the door" price, sorry, I walk. I've seen that recommended a few times on this forum (and just in auto buying in general).

My local dealer (petes Rv) has one in stock at their Indiana storage lot (if I had to guess).

Might be worth sending an email to get a price.

I have to say that is a sweet layout!

If you can't wait for the end of July for the next one to come in, maybe Camping World has the same model at another location as I've heard they have no problems transferring units from one location to another.

Ordering directly from the factory is not much different than doing so with an automobile, although there will be a significant wait greatly exceeding the end of July for it to be available. With current demand it could be awhile.

I imagine most of the Keystone Premiers delivered to the dealer will have most every option, although there is always a chance that they may not have the interior color scheme you are looking for if that is important. Enjoy your new rig!!!

Ahh ok, I didn't know this, if I could find one at another Camping World and have it transferred more locally that would definitely work as well. And yea, if we order from the factory, they already told us it would be 6-8 weeks. We aren't looking to rush into this, but we would like to gather all the information before we walk through the door.
