Weber Q3200 grill

I am looking for a replacement grill for the tiny one that is mounted to the back bumper of our camper. I want to go big since I have 5 children and they expect to be fed regularly. I am considering the Weber Q3200 . I plan to leave the base off and removing the regulator and plugging it into the existing low pressure port on the camper using the appropriate adapter. The pictures in the assembly manual make it appear that it will sit on a table without the base. I won't ba able to use the existing mount, but I can place it on a table.

Has anyone used one of these grills?

Is it as good as the web page indicates?

For anyone who wants to convert their WeberQ to the low pressure from their RV AND who aren't comfortable just grabbing parts from the store- the Converta-Q kit is pretty slick. Everything you need from the parts to leak check fluid to thread sealant in one package. Plus handy directions.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to drag around the monster Q3200 for camping when the mid-size Q2200 is surely big enough. I've got a Q220 for use on the deck here at the house but even it's too large for camping when the smaller Q100 / Q120 / Q1000 / Q1200 series works just fine for most families, meaning 4 or 5 people. As for cleaning, I usually pull each of mine apart completely twice a year but can't say I've ever had any issues with the burner or with any of them gumming up. The only Achilles' Heel with any of these Webers has been the crappy regulators supplied with these grills ...

I have a Weber Q300 series at home and would not want to lug that around. I have a dedicated Weber Q200 and it is a great grill when using the 1lb throw away canisters. I quickly got tired of replacing those green canisters and bought a 5lb refillable cylinder. It is not so much that Weber regulators are crappy, it has to do with the way the tanks pressurize and the safety controls put in. That being said, replace the Weber Q 100/1000/200/2000 regulator with either what SG posted, or via these Amazon direct replacement parts. I get a great variable blue flame out of my Q200 now with my 5lbs propane cylinder.

EDIT: Do not waste money buying the Weber 6501 Adapter Hose for Weber Q-Series for a Q100/200/1000/1200 etc. to run that regulator type with a 5/20/30 lbs propane cylinder. It does not work very well and you will be disappointed. It may seem to work well for a bit, but trust me, replacing the regulator is key.

Picked up one of these when my 25 year old camping grill bit the dust on the road. I like it so much that I threw away my 20 year old Weber I had at home an got a hose to hook this up to a 20 lb bottle. This is the only grill I own, at home and on the road.

How bout an update? I will give mine. We have been using the 2200 all summer so far. It was great for the first few times but then it got to where only half the burner would light up. It was obviously plugged with grease and not working properly. I was shocked at just how easy the burner gets plugged. I would stick a torch tip cleaner in every hole to clean them out and it would last a few minutes and plug right back up again. Well this weekend is a no camping weekend so I decided to get this thing fixed. I tore the entire grill apart and degreased the **** out of it. I scrubbed the burner and powerwashed it even more inside and out. I drained as much water out of it as possible and sat it on the hot blacktop in the sun to dry while I scrubbed the rest of the grill until everything looked the the day I took it out of the box. I let everything dry for a couple hours in the sun and put it back together. Now that sucker works like it should.

I love cooking on the Weber Q and it does a beautil job of cooking food but man does it get plugged up way too easy. Guess I will have to do a little deeper cleaning everytime I use it rather an just scrub the gratres off

We got out the tape measure and decided to get the Q-2200. With space being important, and the 2200 being much larger than the one that came with the camper, we decided it was a good choice. It will be here on Thursday. Then I have 10 days to convert it to the low pressure fitting and test it!

Thank you to everyone who said the Weber Q grills are so good. We see them everywhere when we go camping. It is good to know they really are good.

We have the Q3200. We love it. It can get really hot, which was my main concern when looking at them. I love cooking in this Weber.

We have been using a monster 8 burner event grill for the last 5 years. We too have 5 kids and they all want to bring a buddy and then family always shows up, and well you get the point.

This year we are down to two kids left at home and downsized to a Weber Q2200, and I sprang for the extra rolling stand for it as well. This thing is awesome. We used it on our 1st camping trip of the season this weekend. I havent been able to cook burgers this good in a long time. They are very well made too. Everything on them is either cast or stainless. There is nothing to rust out. I now have the basement in my camper back after I got rid of that big monsyer. Not sure I would want to take the base off of it though. Just get the rolling stand for itand it folds right down to the ground

Our Q1200 has been great ! The only small gas grill I ever had that wont try to burn everything up when meat starts to drip.
Very good quality also.

That is good to know.

I cannot find any of these grills in stock at the local stores. I may have to try an outdoor living store. I would like to get a good look at it before I spend $400 on a grill.

Historically, Weber, makes excellent products and although I use charcoal instead of propane not sure I'd spend 500 bucks for a grill that I would then tear apart.

Have you considered Magma's line of propane marine grills? Well regarded products, less expensive and easier to mount w/o losing the benefits you are paying for.

I have the big Weber at home with the base. Hose plumbed direct to a quick disconnect from the house propane. No need for little tanks. I think if you leave the base off there would be no place for the drip tray but the pads are threaded so it would not be difficult to add short feet.

Besides my smoker I have two Weber Grills one of them is 22 years old and I can still buy parts for it - not bad investment IMHO. My 10 year old Q100 has been great for our family and RVing.

That said be watchful that Weber has started making most of their grills in China and in reading various BBQ forums they've had serious quality issues.

Would I buy another, perhaps but I won't expect it to last 22 or 10 years sadly.
