Why is the shower in the bedroom?

In my hunting for RV floor plans and styles that I will be focusing on, I keep seeing this. It is an immediate "hit the back space" when I see it. I can't imagine the mold problems that this would cause on your bedroom carpet, not to mention steam in the bedroom. Has anyone found problems caused by this? Should I reconsider?

It was never a deal breaker for us but we never had friends shower in there either; just the kids. No problem with ventilation; AC on or window open. In cooler conditions with the heat on it added some moisture to the air to prevent shocks from the carpet. We are not long shower people- get in and get out. However, our new-to-us fifth wheel does have the bathroom all in one but the living layout I felt is much more important! No RV is perfect.

Every coach we have had, from Class C, DP to 5th wheel have always had shower open to the bedroom and a seperate toilet room, with a door. Cannot stand the enclosed shower/ bathroom combo. Way too hot usually, and not a lot of ventilation. Never had mold, water, or any other issue. To each his own. That's why they make different floor plans. If you need privacy in the bedroom, there is a sliding panel door that seperates the bedroom from the shower/ sink.

Stop looking at those floor plans. When looking to replace my 2003 Cardinal 33CKTS I only looked at plans that had a real bathROOM with shower, sink, toilet, and a door.

When we first started looking for a fifth wheel, this was my staunch opinion too. At that time, all the fifth wheels with separate bedrooms resulted in smaller bedrooms and/or access to the bathroom or bedroom non-existent with the slides in - to us a non negotiator since we stop often en route and sleep in our rig at truck stops. Being able to access everything with the slides in was a must for us. Four years later with the shower in the bedroom - no issue for us and we can pull an expandable rigid curtain between it and the bed when we have company. We rarely have guests so that's a non issue to us. Mold? No! We run the fan during and after to ventilate.

Again, it's what works for you and only you.

That might cause a little corrosion in your 5th wheel, so better keep it lubed.

But if you have guests over for the weekend (as in relatives or non romantic friends), they can only shower in your bedroom. Awkward... especially if they want to shower when you are not up yet or are already down for the night.

That's what the campground showers are for!! Anyone that camps with me knows that they can do #1 in my 5th wheel, but everything else must be done in the campground facilities.

Ours has a folding curtain that separates the shower area from the bedroom. One of these days I should unfold it and see how it works. Never been a problem yet so it might never get done.

Gee. when I have a shower in my bedroom... It usually means I need to clean the indoor air intake filters on the air conditioner (Shower is in the Main Bath, BEHIND the bedroom).

Saves on the water tanks too! I actually had 100 gallons of water on board on my boat, where I lived for 2 plus years. Weight is not quite such an issue on a large boat. And even on a 40 foot boat, they still managed to come up with 2 private "heads", one with a shower *inside* it!

We have had ours for 7 years. No problem with moisture or mold.
Most people choose the separate open shower or the enclosed bathroom for one of two reasons.
The enclosed bathroom gives much more privacy when bathing, tooth brushing, and other things you may do at the lavatory. The disadvantage is that it takes up more room and, in some rigs, makes the bedroom so small it can be somewhat claustrophic.
The separate shower/lavatory is for someone who does not have a problem with the associated lack of privacy. The advantage is that the bedroom has more room and is much more open.
If the grandkids travel with us then the bedroom door gets closed while someone is showering. There is also an accordian curtain that can be closed to separate the bed from the shower area if one person were in bed while the other was showering if they really wanted that privacy. But ours has never been closed.
To each his own.

I'm tall and shower doors are below my head so when showering water has a tendency to get out of shower over top of doors.

There was no way we were going to have a shower (or sink for that matter) in the bedroom......those floorplans were out.

BUT one thing about those floorplans.........more access room to side of bed.
But I wasn't too thrilled with having a wet bed/carpet/walls from shower or sink.
And with that floorplan the toilet always was in a little cubby room....barely enough room to squat let alone turn around.

Full bathroom......period
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Yes we also wanted a stand alone bathroom...all floor plans with the shower and or sink in the bedroom we would not even look at. But then we noticed that in order to find the floor plan we wanted all the units were quite new and out of our used price range....but we kept looking and then found the 5er in our sig.
Love having the privacy bathroom.
Just keep looking you will find what you are looking for.

That was a dealbreaker for us too. We wanted all bathroom components in a room with a door.

That is one of the first things we look at, if the facilities open into the bedroom that model gets crossed off the list. We will be traveling with the grand children so it is not an option.

I know, I am so unreasonable in my demands! I though perhaps we could put the shower in the middle of the kitchen. Save all that extra plumbing, and just as practical!
