2nd Plug installed in Cab for Fithwheel

Hello everyone.

I recently purschased a Fifthwheel from Lazy Days in Tampa Florida. They installed the extra Power Cord in the cab of the truck for the fithwheel. When I hook it up all the lights work on it. The only things isn't working is the built in brake controller on my 2012 F250.. It only works if plugged in the bumper area. When I spoke to lazy days about it they said the ford dealership would have to wire this to work? Is this correct and has everyone else had this issue?

Thanks!

Steve

Thanks Everyone. I went to my local Camper Shop and they determined the plug that was install in the bed of the truck had a bad connection. They installed a new one and its working. Just an update and thanks for all your help!!

This would concern me. A place that sells trailers and installed the wiring hooks it up but gives it to you saying thanks for your business and oh by the way you have no brakes on your trailer. Go see Ford if you want it done right. Many things seem wrong here.

They hooked it up wrong.....ford makes an inline adapter that plugs into the factory wire loom at the rear of the truck. It runs under the bed up to your chosen mounting point. It is plug & play no cutting, splice......

Did they cut wire or use a plug and play connector?

The truck should be wired for a second in bed connector, you can buy the plug from Ford for about $50. My truck was missing the oem connectors for some reason so i had to use a T cable

I assume you mean the bed and not the cab. Something doesnt sound right, i have a second plug in the bes and both work fine. I have the same truck and used a no splice 'T' cable from bargman

I wonder if they spliced it in, i would not be happy if rhey did

I installed it myself and didnt need anything from the dealer

Your built in brake controller is integrated with the ABS on your truck. You do not want Lazy Days messing with that and I doubt Ford can wire in the additional plug as the system is all computerized.
