Am I the only one that HAS to look??

Hi, I'm John and I have a problem.

(you all say, 'Hi John')

I have developed this problem ever since I starting coming here. I am a 'newbie' so I've spent a lot of time here reading and learning.

But now I have developed this other problem.

When ever I goto pass another TV with a TT, I have to slow down and check out what hitch they are using, how its set up, look from a distance, and analize what adjustement I think they should make. Even when I see someone on the highway going the other way and have to make a quick evaluation on how things are set up.

Now, I know I'm no expert, so a lot of my 'eye ball' tests that I do could be totally incorrect, but I can't help look!!

My DW must think I'm going nuts.

Please help-

I have my son drive my rig and I drive his car. I pass him while looking at my set up then slow down and past again and look again, FOR miles.

I was in the center lane of a 3 lane highway and I see a pick up truck in my right mirror come up along side me then drop back to my hitch area. He hovered around there for a bit then dropped back to the rear of trailer. Then he came up and passed me giving me a thumbs up. Even though I have no idea what this guys knowledge is, or what he tows, it was one of the best feelings I ever had!

She's also an engineer, and takes a lot of interest in these things.

Nice to know we're not alone in our affliction. I too must confess to my weakness of constantly evaluating every towing setup I see. I'm always looking at whether I think the tow vehicle is adequate for the trailer regardless of hitch setup. I also used to suffer from truck envy pretty bad, but I took care of that this week. :B

OK I give. :S

Looks to me like it is high time that this mental issue is given a name.

I do same the thing. I hate seeing a TV with the nose pointed for the lift off the trailer pointed in the drilling for oil position.

I have the sickess too, I admit. I haven't ever followed anyone yet to discuss it when they pull over. Yet. I blame John Barca. I wonder if he's a hitch watcher? I'm betting yes.

Hey, I resemble that comment...:B

I do not think I have a hitch problem, however your should hear the DW talk about me....

I'm soooo relieved--I didn't know there was a diagnosis for this afflication.

"Or maybe like pilots we could "waggle" the wings. On second thought that might just scare the cr@p out of the guy behind you." Nah, they'd just think that you're swaying 'cause you weren't set up right.

My personal favorite is the "I've got a dually so I don't need weight distribution pointing at the sky TV."

Best thread ever--my DW thinks I'm loosing it, laughing so hard.

LAWL!
I like the "SOH" got a kick out that!

I pretty much don't look.
Pretty busy behind the wheel when on the road just holding speed constant and trying to keep things smoothed out.

I do ogle other folks rigs and camp set-ups when on-site.

I'm a truck driver and when I'm on the road I always look at the hitch set up of campers I pass. We have an '04 Tahoe and haven't towed our camper (30' Sierra) with it due to its length, but I've seen smaller vehicles pulling campers as big as ours and try to see how stable it looks.

Now, though I always look at other RV's when passing either way, I critique other fivers and their TV. I've gone so far as to look up online a fiver's weight and the TV's towing capacity. DW says I'm sick.
I take medication, but it doesn't seem to help.
