I would have an RV place install the base plate they do hundreds of them. I found half the repair shops I went to they didn't have a clue what a base plate was let alone install properly.
I am REAL glad I chose an RV and/or RV dealership to install mine.
The parts book called for one part number base plate for my Tracker. Only thing was that one did not fit. The RV Shop KNEW that from past experience. And ordered the correct one which actually is for another make. I could have seen an auto repair shop banging away to make that wrong part fit.
AND they can also install the breakaway switch, diodes for the toad taillights and braking wires at the same time and done correctly all at the same time and out the door ready to tow.:C
