Battle of Remagen reenactment

Just in case anyone is interested...

An important WW II battle over a bridge is being reenacted in Tidioute, PA on Saturday August 2. The bridge over the Allegheny River is similar to the Ludendorff Bridge that crossed the Rhine. The Germans tried to blow up the bridge before the Americans could cross.

Here's the site about the reenactment: The Bridge at Remagen

And here's a link to battle info: Wikipedia

This is the first time I've heard of a reenactment that was about WW II. We've been to a couple Civil War reenactments when the kids were still with us... It will be interesting to see all the old war equipment - they'll even have some German tanks.

The best part about going to see this is we get to go camping in the beautiful Allegheny National Forest! We haven't been there in years.

WWII days are every year at the Reading PA airport. This was our first trip and a lot of the cool WWII warbirds were there, plus American, German, Russian encampments. The even have a European style village to show the house to house fighting. Lots of demos. You can even go for rides for a price in B24, B25, B17 or a couple of smaller aircraft.

If you're ever in Fredericksburg, Texas, checkout the National Museum of the Pacific War. It is one of the best! They also have Living History/Reenactments several times during the year. Lots of equipment used by Americans and Japanese. Well worth the visit! You are right there in the action sitting just a few yards away. You can even feel the heat from the flame-thrower! video
