Camping etiquette

Due to family issues we have not been able to take a trip in our RV for 2 years. Finally able to get away we headed to our favorite spot, Flagstaff, AZ for 2 weeks. We have been RV'ing for many years and this year was our worst experience ever. First of all the KOA raised their prices significantly since our last stay. Second, camping etiquette was non existent. During our stay we had numerous people walking through our campsite heading to the showers. We would be sitting outside and they would just walk through without even an apology. I started to tell people to stop cutting through and they looked at me like I was a jerk. I told them they were agitating my dog. I believe most of these people were new to camping or renting those RV's.
Guy next door with 4 barking dogs was another issue. I may be getting old but courtesy for your neighbors seems to be at an all time low. Just venting.!!!

You "informed the campsite owner and the sheriff was called". So who technically had the person removed? You or the owner? I know I'm beating this to death but it goes back to who "owns" the site during occupancy.
Those who claim ownership of their sites seem to have disappeared from this thread.

I was the one who called the sheriff. I just informed the campsite owner of what I was going to do out of courtesy. The campsite owner was nowhere to be found and didn't converse with the sheriff when he arrived. I am the one who filed the complaint. The woman tried to tell the sheriff that she could stay because I was renting this space and I couldn't tell her to leave. The sheriff then told her that the agreement for this section of property was between myself and the owner of the campground. If her name wasn't anywhere on the agreement, then either myself or the campground owner could have her removed from my area.

I'm not a lawyer so I don't know if what the sheriff said was completely true and legal but I wasn't going to argue with him since he was removing a truly crazy woman from my area.

They have more than likely gone because of the trolls.

Correct. My trespassing ordeal is a bit different than just a person walking through my campsite. My reason for the comment is that you do (as a rental tenant) have a legal means to remove someone from your campsite.

My story, in a nutshell, is this. I was set up with a date through a "friend" (they are no longer a friend now). My date (at the time I was introduced to her) was renting a room from my friend. After our 2nd date, she informed me that my friend kicked her out. I, being the kind hearted soul that I am, suggested that she could stay at the RV until she found another place. After the 2nd night of her "temporary" stay, I quickly realized that she had no intention of finding another place and that she had found her "home". She refused to leave the site. Once she was out of the RV, I locked the door. I informed the campsite owner and the sheriff was called. I have never dealt with an adult that just crossed their arms and sat down and refused to deal with the situation. I am still amazed a the situation to this day. I realized that I got into the situation because I am too trusting of people. Live and learn I guess.

I've come to a conclusion about snoring. Although snoring is annoying if someone else is doing it, I think it's nature's way of originally protecting humans.
Lol, a few years back I went through a spell of snoring loudly every night for about 6 months then went away. Our dog used to put his front paws on the bed next to me and wake me up. I'd roll over and stop snoring. Dog was protecting himself and able to go back to sleep. Smart dog!! :B

Think snoring is annoying in a CG? Try camping next to someone mere feet away with nonstop smokers hack... :M

You idiots should stop with all the legal horse hockey on site rentals and getting arrested for trespassing. Nobody cares - nobody is going to get arrested for walking on your site - no ranger gives a hoot about your stupid stuff, they probably have real issues to deal with rather then 2 idiots getting into a dispute because someone walked on my site.

Cant you just say to the person 'I would really appreciate it is you didnt cut through my site' and be done with it.

I feel compelled to tell you that you are now one of the "idiots".

Welcome aboard!

Can you have someone arrested for trespassing? Again, it is your land. Call the police and try that. See what they say.
We are not land barons. We are people staying in a campsite for a night or two or whatever. Lighten up already. Your legal rights as a landowner/tenant/leaseholder are almost zero staying in a campsite.

Not to stir the pot with further discussion but you CAN have someone arrested for trespassing and removed from your designated campsite. I have had to do it with a date that refused to leave. Unfortunately, they are allowed to stay at the next campsite right next to you unless the owner of the property talks to the sheriff and has them removed from the whole campground.

Not walking through someone's campsite is just common courtesy. I've stayed at a campground where you walked pretty darn close to some sites when accessing the paths to the bathhouse, beach, common areas, etc. It all boils down to being courteous.

Your scenario is a bit different. More of a domestic dispute or disorderly conduct than a trespassing situation. Still interesting though.

Couple week-ends ago we were at a state park in Indiana. I got up early to take our dogs for their morning walk. We passed several tents and a couple pop-ups. I was surprised how much "snoring" could be heard. My dogs were good and never barked, but they sure wanted to go up to the tents and the pop-ups and see what the noise was all about.

Anyone who thinks their MH, TT, or 5er is soundproof is basically out of touch with reality. It does not have to be a tent or a popup. I have heard snoring from all of them, and can usually pick up what's on TV. The best are the ones with subwoofers. I can usually tell after the first night who has one.

We noticed a differance in noise when we sold our TT and bought a hybrid. Now that said I could sleep through a nuclear blast so no problem for me, DW though was another story...Next RV will be all hard side.
