Cleaning your awning

When I opened my awning for the first time this season, I was a bit shocked at how dirty it looks. I often stay under pine trees, they drop sap everywhere. When you roll up your awning this sap just spreads all over both sides of the cloth. Dead bugs stick to it, its just a mess. I have tried a commercial "Awning cleaner" I purchased at Camping World. Doesn't even touch it. Anybody have a favorite product, or better yet a home brew cleaner that will actually work?

Here are 2 things. You can buy Awesome at the dollar store.A spray bottle is $1.00 and they sell gallon refills. That does work pretty good. Some years ago,I was told to put some car wash in a bucket and throw it on the awning then roll it up.Leave it there for 20 minutes then open and rinse. That works ok for general cleaning but the Awesome and a scrub brush on a poll are still needed for the tougher spots.

I'd like to know the answer too. Bleach works great for mold and mildew but I have dark brown/black spots mostly on the underside that nothing touches and I've tried just about everything I can think of.

I asked him to do one thing and he didn't do any of them.
