Those were fairly popular in the mid-50's through early 70's. I always preferred to pitch my tent on the ground, less of a drop when I stumbled outside the door in the middle of the night to do whatever 🙂

'swamp coolers' Are air conditioners,

they work off of evaporation instead of refrigeration

but they 'condition/cool' the air just not as much
