Dinghy ignition key

We are heading out this weekend on our first trip towing our CRV. I was thinking about the ignition key in the CRV today and what people typically do when they stop for a period of time. We are planning on stopping at a Cabela's on the way and wondering if I should be concerned leaving the ignition key in the CRV while we are inside. It seems like a thief who understands a towing setup could easily steal the car while you are away. Is this a concern or am I overthinking this whole issue?

Thanks for the responses and they are all very helpful. My plan was to remove the key, but after reading some responses I think I may explore having one cut to use just for this purpose.

They may break in, but they won't start the car.

since there were three locks on the pins connecting the toad to MH I wasn't too worried about theft, other than overnights.

We use an unchipped key that I cut most of the head off of and painted the remaining portion flat black. I drilled a hole in it, and we use a small 'S' hook to remove it. When in place in the black keyhole, the key is virtually invisible to anyone looking in.

X-2 Had it made without even thinking about the chip for $2.00, but now have a good use for it. The chipped key was like holy cow, that much. lol I lock the car when unattended to protect the even brake and stuff.

I would not leave the key in the ignition.
Remove the key. Just don't forget to put it back in when you leave.

We remove the key from our toad if we are doing more than filling up. Leaving the MH & toad for any reason other than a few minutes means locking everything up, no sense in tempting the honest people.
