Does any full-timer use a slide-in truck camper or van/car?

I would like to know what you do for insurance if you are full-time. The insurance company will want to know where the car is "garaged" or generally kept so they can give your the appropriate rate for your zip code.

Do full-timer just give their mail-forwarding address, even though they may never have stepped foot in the place? Is that a problem when you make claims from around the country? I can imagine a claim being denied due to "fraud".

The reason I am asking full-time van or car dwellers and truck camper RV'ers is that insurers are not equipped to handle full-timing for vans or trucks, but they are for other RV's.

Depends on the state.
Michigan will not let me use my Mailing address (A PO Box store) so I use my brother's house.

To the subject: I do not use a slide in camper or van but I know or know of several who do that I have met in my travels.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

That wasn't the case for us. When we owned our Class C motorhome, it was insured through Geico, same as our other vehicles. When we traded it in for our Destination TT, Geico told us they don't insure stationery TTs, only TTs that are towed. They set us up with Foremost Insurance to cover our TT that stays at our seasonal site.

Was the motorhome stationary and did you inform them that it's stationary?

I suspect, you are confusing stationary with RV type.

Full time as it's typically used on the forum suggests, the RV will be mobile at least some of the time.

Contact an insurance company who knows about fulltime RVing. I'm personally going through millerrvinsurance.com but also spoke with gilainsurance.com.

They'll help guide you.

It's really no different from other types of RV's. You have to establish a domicile to register the vehicle and typically your insurance would be based on that location.

As mentioned, don't lie about your situation. While the odds are low, that could come back and bite you.

Oh, that's what that thing is? If the homeless look is going to trend, he is ahead of the curve. Great guy though, and a wealth of knowledge.

Not all insurance companies will write coverage for full timers. Be honest up front. This gets you the coverage you need (extended liability for full timers) and the correct rate. Different companies handle the rating state differently. The same with the vehicle you attach to the RV. Some will use the state where it is registered. Others use your mailing address. Having the correct coverage and being honest up front will make sure you don't have any issues if you have a claim. National General and Progressive both write full time coverage.
