Does owning a camper make you rich or a cheap tightwad?

I had a 2008 Jayco TT for 8 years and now I have a 2016 Forest River Vibe TT. Through the years, I've received sentiment from opposite ends of the spectrum. Some folks think that I'm a cheap tightwad because this is how my family and I vacation. Others seam to think I'm rich because I own a camper. I'm definitely not rich. My family and I manage our money wisely. We love camping and enjoy being able to take several vacations per year instead of just one. Have any of you received similar comments? How do you respond?

If you own a TT then you must not be rich. On the other hand if you own a fifth wheel.... 😉

Why should owning a camper "make" you anything? What one owns does not define who you are.

Opinions are like a....... well you know....everyone's got one!

Why would anyone care what others opinions are? If you're happy, your family is happy, and everyone is loved and cared for, that's really all that matters.

Funny about this question. My family rubs me and keeps informing me "You are wasting your money having a camper!" My mother thinks I should save every last penny till I die so I can give it my kids (NOT going to happen!). My sister thinks it's a waste of money to spend on it (but it's OK for her to smoke cigarettes like there's no tomorrow and drink alcohol in extreme excess), and my other sister thinks it's just foolish (probably because she doesn't have one).

I just smile at them all and remind them, it's my life not theirs.

Don't care what other's think.

Owning a rv gives me a higher quality of life, if they don't understand their loss.

Definitely not worried about it. Just think it's interesting that I get comments from both ends of the spectrum.

Well, if your are rich a camper will probably fix that problem.

Kidding aside, why are you worrying about what other think of your recreational activity? If you're enjoying it, that's really all that matters. How to respond? Pour another adult beverage.
