This original property owner allowed us to share rental space for a
weekend of high desert RV camping....

Bride says.. "don't worry , it's dead , move it along".Tapped it with a twig...
sprung out to its' full hairy glory.
Wing span a little larger then my palm. It covered
ground quickly. I slept with one eye open.;)

ever wonder how many we don't see ? :B (BTW...I'm told these are harmless, awesome..but harmless.)

Well, who knew ? , apparently spiders are way up on the "nope" list for many here....

I was glad to see "Fuzzy" crawl away....can't help but to have noticed, the crawling
bug count seemed very low. Fuzzy must have good hunting / gathering skills. :C

Whew . . . glad your high desert is AZ and not Boise, Idaho . . . also considered high desert. Have never seen one of those here! Gets too cold for too long.

I would've packed up my fiver and been gone in less than ten minutes, might have left everything there and just bolted with the fiver. I am absolutely petrified of Spiders. My wife has to kill the ones around our house. Just looking at the picture gives me the heebee jeebees.

Charles, glad you posted that pic! My wife plans to spend some time in your area in April. Her brother has a Winter home in Mesa. She wants to take pics in the high desert areas and sight see in the Verde Valley, and Sedona area.

She hates spiders, so I showed your pic to her! I was hoping she'd change her mind about going. Not!! Oh well, at least I tried.

BTW, she has always enjoyed your camping pics.

Brown Tarantula

they are not aggressive, do NOT normally bite man
and NOT deadly, but if you manage to get bitten , it is painful

I grew up in Indiana, still have family there
copperhead snakes in the blackberry bushes, and "brown recluse" Fiddler spider under the house

Macktee... fortunately I don't suffer from arachnophobia... but, these are the visuals of nightmares for some.
What surprised me.. how dang fast it was. Executed a lateral crab crawl at full speed.

really, I'm told by spider lovers they really are harmless. Amazing eyes !
