Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

Another member suggested a new forum section with new products but it doesn't look like it will be feasible. So I thought I would post this here under General RVing Issues. If enough people post (even if you have mentioned it before in another post) we can keep it near the top?

Do you have a handy hint, a new product or an old product that makes your RVing or Camping much better?

(Sorry, no commercial advertising allowed)

I'll start:

Someone in the Camping Van posted a reference to using a Super-Chamois to wipe down their shower. I have been using an icky old thick sponge and I like the chamois idea so much more.

Now I want to hear what works for you

I believe that is your settings that are preventing the images from showing up.

Yes, it's a setting you have to change.........

click on: "My Forums"

then click on: "My Preferences"

Under General Preferences put a check mark next to: "Show images that are part of posts ( not recommended for dial-up users )"

Then click on: "Submit Changes"

We've gotten the 3M hooks at Walmart, and the heavy duty velcro at Jo-Ann Fabrics.

I bought a clothes rack at Walmart for about $10. I had to assemble it, but it's so easy to use as a clothes line when staying at a campground for any length of time. I can also position it under the awning.

Okay, this is not something I built, yet. It is my next project. I have almost no outside storage and need a place to carry the bikes. I also sometimes tow a boat. I have one of those carriers that fit in a hitch receiver. Works okay for the bikes, but I can't carry anything else with the bikes, nor can I tow anything. I thought of building a box on the carrier, and bolting it to a hitch extension, but then I still wouldn't have anywhere for the bikes.

My wife saw this in the spot next to us. It is exactly what I want. I just never thought of putting the bike racks on top. And you can still tow with it.

Sham-Wow chamois are the BEST thing to use in the 5th wheel. They clean up all the water spots on the sink, soak up all the water from the freezer after it defrosts, wipe down the shower, and are great for spills anywhere. They work WAY better than paper towels. I thought they were just a gimmick, but my 11 year old daughter convinced me to buy a pack of them and now I'm a convert. I use them at home too and just bought some more at the fair!

The CordPro sure made a tidy bundle out of a formerly tangled mess of power cords.

Bought 4 of these yesterday at the Salem (VA) fair, to coil and store the power cords (2), drinking water hose, and 100 foot extension cord in the stick house.

They can be ordered online, or check out their upcoming shows to see if there is one near you. Here is the link.http://www.cordpro.com/

Well, in an effort to "bump" this thread and offer some useful ideas, here's one that I came up with for storage of the sewer drain line. Got some 6" pvc pipe (perforated), one end cap and one screw on, removeable cap. Tucked it up under the trailer and voila! that smelly thing can stay "outside" and not rust the bumper's insides or smell up the storage hold. It's securely fastened with gear clamps to the frame.
Here's a couple of pics for you all.

Cheers!
