Has anyone tried the GEO Method of cleaning the grey and black holding tanks? 1-cup Blue Dawn 1-cup Calgon water softner?
I've been RVing for over 40yrs and have never had tank level gauge's that work more than a couple years.

I have also been wanting to try this, but can't find the Calgon Water Softener anywhere, we have soft water where I live, but I also shopped for it everytime we went into a store for supplies on our recent month long 4,200 mile loop to Wyoming.

I do the Geo method a couple of times a year, once a month when I was on the road. 1 cup blue Dawn, 1 cup Calgon liquid water softener, 2 buckets (about 5 gallons) of water between campgrounds. I'm also not too fussy about whether the probes work or not.I can look down into thew black tank to see where the level is.

I use Dawn in my tanks with about 5 gallons of clean water. Go for a drive and dump immediately. Sensors working just fine on this camper after 4 years (all tanks), and they don't stink. Now ... sometimes they DO "begin" to stink! The Dawn and a 30 minute drive, or a cup of bleach and 5 gallons of water (in the grey tanks with a 30 minute drive, and dump immediately), and smells gone (couple times a years).

Yes, it works. But you have to be consistent.

Actually, I think the driving with clean water does more good than all the soap and chemicals! That sloshing and pounding of the water on the sides of the tanks and on the sensors keep them clean.

Great luck with mine using Geo method, but not that much, about 2 caps full of each,5 years and they work perfect.
