KOA And Love’s Travel Stops Team Up For New Campground

Since this article applies to both Loves Truck stops and KOA campgrounds I am posting here in General. I have used KOA only once on the coast in Oregon. Only place to stay after dark in the fog.

Jason Epperson of RV Miles speculates, “I wouldn’t expect these to be just small campsites attached to a truck stop if Love’s portfolio of hotels is any indication. Love’s operates full-service Holiday Inn Express, Microtel, and Fairfield Inn accommodations that most people wouldn’t realize have any affiliation with the neighboring trucker’s oasis.”

will be interesting... Love's are typically clean truckstops. KOA's are at the bottom rung of campsite cleanliness .

As long as they can get a little isolation from the noise of the truck stop, seems to be a smart affiliation (not sure why they would affiliate with KOA rather than just starting their own brand).

Especially at the rural locations, they often have excess land and they are already bringing in utilities, so the cost to implement a small campground focused on overnight stops shouldn't incur a lot of costs or complications.

If the campgrounds are laid out in the same stupid fashion of the gas pumps I wouldn't bother stopping. I'm only 35' and have a hard time in most getting out due to the cars in front of the store, plus the two 90° turns to get in.

On the good side of this at least the mobile lot lizards will have a location to hose off between customers.

KOA has 3 levels of parks. The lowest level, Journey, has fewer amenities and typically located along major highways and designed for short stays. That may be what they have planned.
