Lippert slide out slicker set - how to properly install?

Bought a set of Lippert slide out slicker sets at the Coachmen rally.

Tried to use one on each of the 2 rear slides. The slide out just pushed them in, did not slide on top of the slicker.

Both set up on carpet.

Cannot be there in person to ensure they stay put, as the rear of the coach is inaccessable when closed.

Any advice on how to use these, so they will stay?

I made my own with some plexi glass. I installed tread grip tape to help grab the carpet. Don't need them on this current trailer but I thought of making one out of one of those plastic mats you put under a desk chair. Those suckers should grab.
