lock for the waste water valves.

I have a problem with the kids in my area opening the black and gray water shutoff valves when my trailer is parked outside my house overnight. I usually pick up my trailer the night before we leave, so we can load everything up. Sometime overnight, the little snowflakes decide it would be a hoot to open the slide valve and leave the cap on. As you can imagine, it makes a mess when I remove the cap to put on the hose.

Does anyone know of a lock that can be used on those slides?

Thanks,
Eric

Its gotta be true about the police, they do it on TV every night and twice on weekends. And they get it all done and the bad guys in jail in an hour, less commercials! Motion detectors with big flashy lights and alarms and cameras.

Your tanks should be empty coming out of storage, I'd just remove the cap and set it inside the TT, that way in the morning when you finish loading I't be a reminder to close the valves when you put the cap back on. Easy Cheese Peese solution instead of going the locks, brackets, etc route.

How about a motion sensor connected to a light and an alarm. Call the police and fingerprint the valves, then let the police find out who they are and talk to them a bit.

You honestly expect the police crime scene processing unit to attempt to get fingerprints off the valve handles? Even if that were possible and the police would dedicate those resources to what amounts to a minor nuisance, what would they do with the fingerprints? The police would have to get complete finger impressions, not just one or two partials, and then what? The offender's fingerprints would have to be on file from previous arrests. You just can't go knocking on neighbor's doors obtaining fingerprints from everyone hoping to find a match.

You, my friend, have been watching too much television.

I'm not aware of any locks but I can think of a couple solutions as we had a concern a few years back. The easiest is Valterra sells a clear view waste cap. While this doesn't necessarily solve the problem, it does allow you to see what your dealing with beforehand so you can limit exposure. If nothing else, these caps are practical because other mistakes happen and valves fail.

What we did is install a twist-on valve like this. It allows a double layer of protection with the valve so you can close it at the cap, hook up your hoses, then open both valves up. Better yet, get both solutions!

Good luck,

Use short piece of PVC in the appropriate diameter to fit over tee handles for grey and black tank valves with a cap glued over one end. Drill small hole in the pipe wall on the opposite end for the cable lock cable to pass through. Lock both caps together with cablelock. Wrap cable around pipe from waste tanks if needed.

I can't get over on how many think leaving end cap off is going to 'resolve' issue

Leaving end cap off would just result in a big mess at MY HOUSE :S :S

1/4" steel cable looped over handles then around drain line and pad lock

Deterrent but not PITA for YOU.

Game camera and catching them is even better.

Then mom/dad can deal with it OR local police
Is it time for your medication or mine?

These little "snowflakes" as you call them need to be dealt with through their parents....

Start with a game camera...
We had someone constantly egging our house. Big mess and hard to clean up. ....Game camera and we caught them with the help of the police. Turns out they were egging the wrong house.

Fill tanks with water, leave cap off set up trail cam. Might not stop it, but with a full tank of water could be some funny videos. Funniest Home Videos pays pretty good, and there is also Youtube. If video or trail cam shows who it is. post it on Facebook.

Happened to us once this last summer in a campground. I was so sure I had closed the handle after the last dump. Well, second time, I realized I wasn't going insane. Third time, never happened. Whoever was pulling the handle must have left the camp ground.

Simple solution (as stated above) is to remove the cap. When traveling, put it back on. When home, someone pulls the lever... yea ... BIG surprise!
