There used to be a web site I used that listed low highway clearances by state but that url no longer exists. Does anyone have a site they would recommend?

I use the low clearance datapace from poi factory...an on line poi sharing website. It is free and seems very detailed and accurate.

I have been able to import it into my Garmin as well as my PC on Microsoft streets and trips...which is my primary planning tool. It works great on streets and trips.

I hate my Garmin anyway, but at least it adds another tool to the poi functions.

the problem with apps and databases such as this is the accuracy and currency of the data. not saying they're not worth using just suggesting that one not put blind faith into such a database. we've all heard the stories about some folks getting lost or worse after abandoning their common sense and blindly following their GPS units. don't do the same thing with a single low clearance app or database.

be sure you know the source of the information used by the app. I've always trusted...to a large degree anyway...the low clearance data in the printed Rand McNally Motor Carrier Road Atlas. that atlas has an excellent track record for accuracy. but even that fine publication can have errors.

btw...only two apps for the iPhone come up in iTunes after searching on 'Low Clearance' and neither is free. one costs $0.99 (nearly free) but the other is $3.99.

Go into Google Android apps and type in Low Clearance and at least two of them will come up.
