Low Voltage - Heat Wave

You might want to check your voltage if you are here in the east. My area dipped to 103 volts, that I observed, and it may have been lower. In a campground, with heavy loads, it is probably lower. I contacted the electric company and they said nothing can be done.

As some of you know, voltage below 104 can damage an air conditioner. And no, there is nothing on the news about the problem.

And lately I've been in full bright sunshine days with the heat pump running. That would be the Oregon coast. :B

Two years ago I had low voltage on a 50A pedestal so cut back my loads since I could not control everyone else. Full CG, hot days and everyone running A/Cs.

But I keep resisting a $600+ 50A autoformer. Just bought the Grand Cherokee in my signature and at least I can say I/we use it every day.

As for 30A pedestal low voltage I just expect it before plugging in.

The rural NY state park we're currently in has been holding at a steady 120-122 on both legs all through our current 90+ degree heat wave even though the park is near capacity. When they rewired several years ago and added a number of 50 amp sites, they must have gotten something right.

We can't waste money updating our infrastructure, we have too many free cell phones to hand out.
Good point about checking the voltage during the heat wave. I didn't think about it.

Antiquated systems being stretched beyond their original design limits. And yes, nothing to be done without massive dollars for major upgrades. And even then probably years to make those upgrades. And who is going to pay for it? Open your wallet.
