Contemplating trading to a M.H.
What percentage is the norm off MSRP. Have heard from 15 - 30%.
Currantly being offered 15% on what they are calling a "SUPERSAVER".
Have not done any negotiations yet. This is on 2013 40' DP.
In advance thank you !

As stated, much depends on situation ie: ordering vs. buying off lot, size of dealer, model year time frame, etc.. We have purchased two new coaches, ordered both and the % off MSRP was in the 25% range in both instances. One ordered in up times (2005) and one in down times for sales (2009). I personally would not talk to a dealer unless the price was in the 25 - 30% range but if a price is in your budget and you like the coach, what difference does the percentage make?

How much off is always a game. I think you should set a price, by researching your want and needs, then go to a dealer that is willing to sell you at that price. Then it becomes a deal more than how much off..

The only right answer is "It depends"... There are many factors that will play into the discount you can negotiate.

Popularity of the make/model you are shopping for. Tiffin Phaeton's for example are extremely popular these days, which MAY make negotiations more difficult for you.

Area you are located in and sales in that area.

Dealer's financial situation, how long a unit has been sitting on their lot........

etc., etc., etc.......

Best to go in with knowledge check internet pricing, including ebay, "wholesale RV" places, with that knowledge realize your shipping to your dealer will probably be more........... but if you can get close you are doing good.........

Last summer we ordered our TH our little VA dealer adds a % period take it or not, they were the best deal MSRP of 42K was 29K (only add on was taxes & tags) the NC dealer set their price but wouldn't match...........

That reminds me Country Roads RV in NC has Ok prices but a great web site....

What do you base your MSRP off of? Dealser always have "list price" and "sale price". I assume neither of these are true MSRP. What is your baseline for negotiations?

No set rule on discount off MSRP.

Best advice is to get the very aggressive pricing from rvwholsalers.com or rvdirect.com and use that as leverage. At least you'll have a ballpark estimate of what you "could" by the unit for.

A lot will depend on the manufacturer as some have more markup than others. It will also depend on dealer overhead. A large volume dealer you may be able to get 30% where as a low volume dealer may only allow 15%. If you do not like the deal, go to another dealer
