New Andersen WD hitch

A fellow camper bud showed me this. It's new and different.

Anyone using one?

Andersen WD hitches

A U-tube video with the factory guy explaining it. You have to get past MR Truck doing his intro. Interesting 5th wheel hitch too.

It looks like this

I'll hold my comments for a short while to not cloud your thoughts. Ideally we can find someone here using one to quiz them on it.

On our trailer I through bolted the brackets.

I helped a friend install the brackets for his hitch, and I welded the brackets to the frame.

I don't like the idea of the allen bolts to secure the brackets.

The standard frame brackets that are shipped fit 5" or 6" frames. I had measured the A frame on my trailer previously. It will need the 4 3/8" brackets.

I've sent an email to RadAuto and Andersen to figure out what I need to do.

What a PITA this has turned into.

So did you have the wrong size brackets for your frame? Perhaps that was the problem. Also, as posted above, what went "boom"?

Yes, I have the wrong size brackets. Nothing broke. It was just an overly dramatic description of my orderly install that came to a screeching halt.

When I said BOOM, I didn't mean something broke. What I was trying to say was my nice orderly install came to an abrupt stop, when I discovered I needed 4 3/8" brackets rather than the standard 5-6 inch brackets.

At this point I don't know if I can get the parts swapped out in time to have the hitch installed by Thursday of this week.

I still have my Class B, so I may have to make the Spring Game trip in it.

It sounds like you ordered the wrong kit for your application. You need kit number 3344 or 3348, and more than likely you ordered the standard 3350 or 3380. I would think that you should be able to order the correct brackets from directly from Andersen.

Did you have the set screws tightened enough so that the points dug into the
tongue members?

My guess is that they need to checked and re-tightened often

I need a new wd and sway hitch in about 3 weeks for my new tt. My old setup is going with the tt trade in. Does anyone have any regrets buying the andersen hitch?

Well, I just finished a 12 hour drive from Omaha to Memphis using the new hitch. It performed very well over some pretty challenging roads. The middle of the drive had some crazy winding hills and the beginning and end had some flat spots with wind.

The ride was smoother as far as up and down motion was concerned. The anti-sway was as adequate as my old equalizer and seemed smoother as well.

I can't say anything about durability yet, but I'm happy with the performance.

See my previous post for a description of my setup.

Is anyone using this hitch on a 10,000 lb+ trailer?
I'm waiting for mine to arrive.

You would also have to buy atleast another set of brackets that bolt to the trailer A-frame and then swap the chains/bushings back and forth between the 2 sets of brackets. Or swap brackets everytime that you switch trailers.
