if you are any where near Yuma or Quarztsite or Florida you can go to the flea markets and they are a lot cheaper than online. if you get the plastic weave type they don't hurt the grass.

We have 2 so the full length under the awning is indoor/outdoor carpet. Helps keep the motorhome cleaner. If too wide, just partially slide it under the edge of the RV. We do not put them down on grass.

If you get the right type of rug specifically made for outdoor use, they pass enough light and air and will not kill the grass. Here is a picture of our site in Frisco, NC after picking up the rugs after a weeklong stay. The grass was actually greener where the rungs were.



Ours are blue and white reversible woven polyethylene mats sold by "Fireside" through Amazon. We have a large one and a small one so we have some flexibility ....

Hi I camp at State Parks and I use indoor/outdoor carpet cut to length of my awning and Never had issues with it. I mainly 3-4 day camp but have gone 2 weeks and when I left no "dead" grass But I am in a TT and if it's wet it goes into my truck bed. I don't use mine as much now as I am now disabled and the sites are concrete. But YES I do believe if left down long enough it will kill the grass regardless of type used.

We don't have one but have been put on sites where people have had one down for more than a few days.

YUUUCK!!! Dead grass, mud, worms at the surface, generally a site that has been ruined for weeks to come till the grass grows back.

I would use a plastic one that folds. I like the larger size because you can always not fold it out all the way if there is not enough room.
Ours has a different design on both size,very light, used it for years.
The larger rug just protects more on tracking things in.

I personally would opt for 2 smaller ones equaling your total size requirement, easier to store and place. At times you may not need all that carpet. I would also not get a poly mat although nice looking and all, they will only last a few years as they deteriorate in the sun, they also blow around very easley. JMHO

I like the 8' width, and then just go with the length of your awning. If you use the heavier material, it may be easier to use two mats.

Having had a number of different ones....I'd go with this style/material....easier to clean, fold and transport. (polypropylene (plastic) mats.

BTW I would not consider a fiber rug, rather one that is water proof.

I've seen and used all sizes. Cleaning can be a issue. It's usually not the top but the bottom that is the issue. Some CGs will not allow anything on grass areas plus you need to consider sprinklers, nothing like folding a wet rug.

Prolly not big enough. I like mine to be same size as the awning. So if the awning is 19 x 9. That's what size I want my awning matt to be. You may have to use 2.
